AbstractHe (J. Inequal. Appl. 2012:Article ID 162 2012) introduced the proximal point CQ algorithm (PPCQ) for solving the split equilibrium problem (SEP). However, the PPCQ converges weakly to a solution of the SEP and is restricted to monotone bifunctions. In addition, the step-size used in the PPCQ is a fixed constant μ in the interval $(0, \frac{1}{ \| A \|^{2} } )$ ( 0 , 1 ∥ A ∥ 2 ) . This often leads to excessive numerical computation in each iteration, which may affect the applicability of the PPCQ. In order to overcome these intrinsic drawbacks, we propose a robust step-size $\{ \mu _{n} \}_{n=1}^{\infty }$ { μ n } n = 1 ∞ which does not require computation of $\| A \|$ ∥ A ∥ and apply the adaptive step-size rule on $\{ \mu _{n} \}_{n=1}^{\infty }$ { μ n } n = 1 ∞ in such a way that it adjusts itself in accordance with the movement of associated components of the algorithm in each iteration. Then, we introduce a self-adaptive extragradient-CQ algorithm (SECQ) for solving the SEP and prove that our proposed SECQ converges strongly to a solution of the SEP with more general pseudomonotone equilibrium bifunctions. Finally, we present a preliminary numerical test to demonstrate that our SECQ outperforms the PPCQ.

We propose a novel two-step proximal method for solving equilibrium problems in Hadamard spaces. The equilibrium problem is very general in the sense that it includes as special cases many applied mathematical models such as: variational inequalities, optimization problems, saddle point problems, and Nash equilibrium point problems. The proposed algorithm is the analog of the two-step algorithm for solving the equilibrium problem in Hilbert spaces explored earlier. We prove the weak convergence of the sequence generated by the algorithm for pseudo-monotone bifunctions. Our results extend some known results in the literature for pseudo-monotone equilibrium problems.

In this paper, we consider bilevel problem: variational inequality problem over the set of solutions the equilibrium problems. To solve this problem, an iterative algorithm is proposed that combines the ideas of a two-stage proximal method and iterative regularization. For monotone bifunctions of Lipschitz type and strongly monotone Lipschitz continuous operators, the theorem on strong convergence of sequences generated by the algorithm is proved.

<p>The main purpose of this paper is to introduce a viscosity-type proximal point algorithm, comprising of a nonexpansive mapping and a finite sum of resolvent operators associated with monotone bifunctions. A strong convergence of the proposed algorithm to a common solution of a finite family of equilibrium problems and fixed point problem for a nonexpansive mapping is established in a Hadamard space. We further applied our results to solve some optimization problems in Hadamard spaces.</p>

As a continuation of previous work of the first author with Ranjbar [‘A variational inequality in complete CAT(0) spaces’, J. Fixed Point Theory Appl. 17 (2015), 557–574] on a special form of variational inequalities in Hadamard spaces, in this paper we study equilibrium problems in Hadamard spaces, which extend variational inequalities and many other problems in nonlinear analysis. In this paper, first we study the existence of solutions of equilibrium problems associated with pseudo-monotone bifunctions with suitable conditions on the bifunctions in Hadamard spaces. Then, to approximate an equilibrium point, we consider the proximal point algorithm for pseudo-monotone bifunctions. We prove existence of the sequence generated by the algorithm in several cases in Hadamard spaces. Next, we introduce the resolvent of a bifunction in Hadamard spaces. We prove convergence of the resolvent to an equilibrium point. We also prove $\triangle$ -convergence of the sequence generated by the proximal point algorithm to an equilibrium point of the pseudo-monotone bifunction and also the strong convergence under additional assumptions on the bifunction. Finally, we study a regularization of Halpern type and prove the strong convergence of the generated sequence to an equilibrium point without any additional assumption on the pseudo-monotone bifunction. Some examples in fixed point theory and convex minimization are also presented.
