Firstly, the background and significance of IEEE1451 standard are introduced. Secondly, each protocol, especially
the IEEE1451.2 standard of IEEE1451 family standards, is described respectively, including Smart Transducer Interface
Module(STIM), Network Capable Application Processor (NCAP) and Transducer Electronic Data Sheet(TEDS).
Then, a new design idea and implementation of a kind of networked smart sensor based on the IEEE451.2 is introduced in
detail. Finally, the advantages and trends of the smart sensor based on IEEE1451 standard are summarized.
