Lymphatic malformations of the head and neck region frequently involve the upper aero digestive tract. Patients with these lymphatic malformations may present in early infancy with sudden airway compromise. This necessitates early intervention with intubation or tracheostomy for airway stabilization. The etiology and pathogenesis of lymphatic malformations is still unclear, and a wide array of treatment modalities has been proposed. We present a case report of a neonate with a lymphatic malformation involving the upper airway, and discuss how the patient was initially stabilized with a tracheostomy, following which he underwent a series of staged procedures, including bipolar radiofrequency ablation, which eventually led to successful decannulation.

Children of all ages can be affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), although they appear to be less affected than adults in both incidence and severity. Difficulties arise in children with co-morbid conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with regard to isolation or quarantine, investigation, and management. It can be a challenge to manage such children, be it in a national COVID center or hospital or a tertiary center. We report our experience and the challenges we faced managing two siblings with ASD and COVID-19.

Perirenal lymphatic malformation (LM) is a rare benign lesion that often simulate as perinephric collection or parapelvic cyst. A neonate, antenatally diagnosed with a renal cystic mass, was investigated to have a perirenal LM on postnatal ultrasonography and MRI. The LM was excised successfully. Histopathologic examination of the specimen confirmed the diagnosis. Perirenal LM should be evoked for a renal cystic mass diagnosed prenatally. Knowledge of this entity can prevent an unnecessary nephrectomy.

Lobectomy of liver is indicated for different conditions; mainly malignancy and trauma. Though it is highly specialized operation and preferably be performed in specialized tertiary center, sometime a general surgeon may not be in a position to avoid the surgery due to very low socioeconomic condition or to tackle emergency traumatic condition. Two case report of Lobectomy of liver; right lobectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma, and left lobectomy for left lobe big cyst and multiple stones in it were performed at Chittagong Medical College Hospital utilizing the existing facilities. Both patients recovered uneventfully. Case I expired after two month and fourteen day, Case II leading a pain free cheerful normal life. Experience of management of these two cases of resection of liver is recorded at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. DOI: 10.3329/jbcps.v26i3.4201 J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2008; 26: 153-157
