Lobectomy of liver is indicated for different conditions; mainly malignancy and trauma. Though it is highly specialized operation and preferably be performed in specialized tertiary center, sometime a general surgeon may not be in a position to avoid the surgery due to very low socioeconomic condition or to tackle emergency traumatic condition. Two case report of Lobectomy of liver; right lobectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma, and left lobectomy for left lobe big cyst and multiple stones in it were performed at Chittagong Medical College Hospital utilizing the existing facilities. Both patients recovered uneventfully. Case I expired after two month and fourteen day, Case II leading a pain free cheerful normal life. This cross sectional type of descriptive study was carried out among the patients attending the Skin and Venereal Disease (VD) Out Patient Department (OPD) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from August 2006 to November 2006 with a view to explore the current situation of scabies and its predisposing factors. In this regard 213 clinically diagnosed scabies contracted patients were interviewed randomly by using pre-tested questionnaire. Risk factors were assessed considering their dwelling places, types of families, number of family members, persons living in each room, using fomites of infected persons, socioeconomic condition, occupation, level of education, regular bathing and cloth washing habit along with age, sex distribution and clinical presentation of scabies. The mean age of the respondents was 13.16 years with a standard deviation (SD) of ±5.38 years and majority (36.15%) was in the age group of 1-5 years. Male, female ratio was 1.15:1. Major level of education was in the group of class I to V (38%). 50.73% had family members comprised of 4 to 6. Majority (38.50%) belonged to lower middle class (income 3001-6000 taka/month). Among the respondents maximum (54.93%) were infected by family members. 77.94% respondents used fomites of affected persons and 66% respondents shared beds of infected persons. Mean duration of illness was 42 days with standard deviation of ±4.47 days. Among the male, majority (82.63%) had lesion on lower abdomen and buttock. In contrary, 80.28% female had lesion on hand. 58.68% presented with papule. The study recommends that emphasis should be given on personal hygiene and life style of people as well as educating them about scabies. Background: The clinical profiles and urinary albumin are very important for the prediction of preeclampsia among the pregnant women. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to assess the clinical and demographic profiles as well as the urinary albumin for the prediction of preeclampsia among the pregnant women. Methodology: This cohort study was conducted in the OPD of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Rajshahi, Bangladesh from January 2013 to December 2014 for a period of two (2) years. This study was carried on pregnant woman attending in outdoor department of Gynaecology, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Rajshahi, Bangladesh before 20th weeks of pregnancy who were healthy normotensive primigravidae with singleton pregnancy. The details demographic profiles, edema were collected from the study population. Urinary albumin was estimated before 20th weeks and after 28th weeks of pregnancy. Result: In the present study, 75 women were included; all were before 20th weeks of pregnancy without any complication or any risk factor for developing PE. Among the study group incidence of PE was 16%. The population are 24(32.0%) low, 31(41.3%) middle and 20(26.7%) high in socio economic conditions. Education level of study population was 45% completed primary education level, illiterate (27%) and secondary education (28%). Edema was absent in 1st visit, in 2nd visit 6(+), 6(++) present who developed PE, 18(+) present who did not develop PE. Edema was absent in 1st visit and (+) 6(50.0%) and (++) in 6(50.0%) present who developed PE in 2nd visit. Urine albumin in 1st visit nil in 6(50.0%), trace in 3(25.0%) and (+) in 3(25.0%) who developed PE. Conclusion: In conclusion housewife living in urban area in middle income socioeconomic condition are the most commonly presented with preeclampsia and urinary albumin is the most commonly detected in the pregnant women presented with preeclampsia Journal of Science Foundation 2018;16(2):54-59

The aim of the study was to find out the risk factors and causes of maternal mortality in rural hospitals of Bangladesh. The retrospective study was conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital with duration of 3 years from May 2009 to April 2012. Total number of maternal deaths was 21 yielding the rate of maternal death as 7.0 per 1000 live births during the study period. The risk factors were age ranging from 21 to 25 years, primigravida, low socioeconomic condition, and less antenatal checkup. Eclampsia was the leading cause of death followed by obstetric hemorrhage, unsafe abortion, obstructed labour.Mediscope Vol. 5, No. 1: Jan 2018, Page 28-32

Fordyce's disease, a rarely found disease of lips has been reported recently in department of Skin and VD, Gonosashthaya Somaj Vittic Medical College Hospital, Savar, Dhaka. Occasionally it may not be possible to identify the cause. The patient presented with identical features of Fordyce's disease and lip biopsy for histopathology showed the features of Fordyce's disease. Then patient was treated with Pimecrolimus cream and improved. Fordyce's disease is an extremely rare disorder. Background: A molar pregnancy is also known as hydatidiform mole which is a benign tumour that develops in the uterus. It begins when an egg is fertilized but normal viable pregnancy not occurs, rather than the placenta develops into an abnormal mass of cyst. In all cases of molar pregnancy observation is essential to detect the reawakening of chorionic activity.Objectives: The aim of the study was to explore the incidence, clinical presentation, management and outcome of the molar pregnancy in our hospital.Materials & Methods: This prospective study was conducted in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Rajshahi, Bangladesh over a period of one year from July 2016 to June 2017. All pregnant women who were diagnosed as molar pregnancy were included in the study.Results: In this study the incidence of molar pregnancy was 5.3 per 1,000 deliveries that was 1 in 188 deliveries. Among the patients 54.7% were between (23 - 27 years) age group, 81.2% cases were multiparous and 58.4% patients belonged to low socioeconomic status. The prevalent blood group was A and constitute 56.6%. About 62.2% patient presented with amenorrhoea and abnormal vaginal bleeding. 45.3% admitted between (12-16) weeks of gestation. Most of the patients 58.4% were managed by suction and evacuation. Among all the cases 92.4% were complete mole and only 16.9% came for follow up.Conclusion: Results from this study showed that a small portion of patient of molar pregnancy came for routine follow up. To achieve high cure rate and low chemotherapy rate an effective registration programme and treatment protocol should be established.KYAMC Journal Vol. 9, No.-1, April 2018, Page 24-27

The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge and awareness regarding cervical cancer and its prevention among women attending at out patient department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. A qualitative study was undertaken using face to face in depth interviews from January 2015 to July 2015 .Among 229 women mean age 34.07±7.92 ,from 18 to 60 years were observed. Awareness and knowledge about cervical cancer was very poor which was about 25.3%. Knowledge was high among women coming from high socioeconomic condition which was 31.5% (p=0.03). Participants who were highly educated had more knowledge about 83.3% (<0.001). Most of the participants about 72.22% got the information from doctors and health service providers. The findings highlights the importance of awareness creation about cervical cancer and its risk factors, screening through utilization of the services of media like television, newspaper and radio which have massive impact in improving the knowledge.J Shaheed Suhrawardy Med Coll, June 2018, Vol.10(1); 36-41

Jejunogastric intussusception is an established complication following any type of gastroenterostomy. In its acute form it presents with abdominal pain and lump suggestive of obstruction. It is also a rare cause of haematemesis. Chronic and intermittent presentation has also been described. It is a surgical emergency in its acute form. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment is required to avoid mortality. A 45 years old man was admitted in the surgery unit-ll at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with the complaints of prolonged dysphagia and regurgitation of food and saliva. The patient had some weight loss but no anorexia, Barium swallow oesophagus showed marked dilatation of oesophagus with regular tapering of its lower end. The patient was diagnosed as achalasia cardia and underwent oesophago-cardio-myotomy operation. The patient relieved from his symptoms. He was followed up for 1 year and found healthy. A total 300 (three hundred) Gonorrhea and Syphilis patients were studied in two Medical College Hospital (OPD) and two private Chamber to find out their Socio Demographic Characteristics. The patients were between 10 to 60 years of age and among them 250 were male and 50 were female. In this study found that the younger age group and unmarried persons are more prevalent. Regarding occupation, service holders are affected more and regarding their socioeconomic condition low and high income group population are also affected more. Through and through orbitocranial penetrating injury by in situ teta is extremely rare. We managed such a case in Dhaka Medical college hospital with many limitations. In spite of all possible supports that were available in our set up, patient did not survive.
