Purpose By learning how to overcome implementation challenges, the Agile methodology can enable organizations to cope with the 21st Century marketplace and deliver what customers expect and demand: easy, quick, convenient, personalized responsiveness at scale.” Design/methodology/approach The 10 major implementation challenges are addressed. Findings Agile offers a methodology that can improve the chances of building a new product or service that people will actually buy, use and like. Practical implications A key Agile principle – doing work in small iterative cycles with customer feedback at the end of each cycle – is a transformative idea. Originality/value The author has recently made on-site visits to leading corporations that have adopted Agile. The “Agile” managers he met recognize that the future of their firm depends on inspiring those doing the work to accelerate innovation and add genuine value to customer, that enhancing that capacity depends on giving autonomy to self-organizing teams within broad parameters of control.

Backgroud: The major objective of resource management systems in the cloud environments is to assist providers in making consistent and cost-effective decisions related to the dynamic resource allocation. However, because of the demand changes of the applications and the exponential evolution of the cloud, the resource management systems are constantly called into question with regard to their ability to guarantee an effective resource provisioning. Objective: To tackle these challenges, the future demand prediction is a practical solution that has been adopted in the literature. The prediction has widely relied on the CPU utilization since it is considered as a leading cause of the Quality of Service dropping. Method: The successful application of artificial intelligence techniques in forecasting problems motivated us to use the Kohonen Self Organizing Maps that tries to capture the gathered empirical CPU load time series in regular behaviors to perform an accurate forecast. The proposed solution is a two-step approach that first classifies the collected data and then predicts the future CPU load. Results and conclusion: The experimental results show that our proposed system outperforms other models reported in the literature. In addition, we proved that Self Organizing Maps known for its strength in classification is also effective for prediction.

The article reveals the current content of the category of time as a universal form of being and the insufficiency of the "narrov" physicalist understanding of time as an attribute of only material existence. Parallels are drawn in its understanding as a scientific concept and metaphor, which is important for understanding the specifics of the time metric in various spheres of the human spirit. The necessity of distinguishing between chronological and non- chronological time metrics, each of which has its own peculiarity, is justified. As an illustration, examples of the different correlation of past, present and future modes in these time metrics are given, which is the basis for the separation of causal and non-causal determinism. In this regard, we consider a synergetic methodology of cognition based on the determination of the present by the future, which takes place not only in society, but also in all self-organizing systems.

It has been proved that in one-dimensional cases, the weights of Kohonen's self-organizing maps (SOM) will become ordered with probability 1; once the weights are ordered, they cannot become disordered in future training. It is difficult to analyze Kohonen's SOMs in multidimensional cases; however, it has been conjectured that similar results seem to be obtainable in multidimensional cases. In this note, we show that in multidimensional cases, even though the weights are ordered at some time, it is possible that they become disordered in the future.

Second-epoch photographs have now been obtained for nearly 850 of the 1246 fields of the proper motion program with centers at declination -20° and northwards. For the sky at 0° and northward only 130 fields remain to be taken in the next year or two. The 270 southern fields with centers at -5° to -20° remain for the future.

Metaphase chromosomes from human and mouse cells in vitro are isolated by micrurgy, fixed, and placed on grids for electron microscopy. Interpretations of electron micrographs by current methods indicate the following structural features.Chromosomal spindle fibrils about 200Å thick form fascicles about 600Å thick, wrapped by dense spiraling fibrils (DSF) less than 100Å thick as they near the kinomere. Such a fascicle joins the future daughter kinomere of each metaphase chromatid with those of adjacent non-homologous chromatids to either side. Thus, four fascicles (SF, 1-4) attach to each metaphase kinomere (K). It is thought that fascicles extend from the kinomere poleward, fray out to let chromosomal fibrils act as traction fibrils against polar fibrils, then regroup to join the adjacent kinomere.
