Drawing on insights from relevance theory, the chapter explores how W.B. Yeats’s late poem ‘Long-legged Fly’ creates an exemplary occasion for reflecting first on cognition and then on the ways in which cognition might be made manifest in poetic language; in particular, here, in a dominant simile that repeats as a refrain through the poem. Processing the three stanzas’ different inferential, sensorimotor, and intertextual effects, we as readers at one and the same time contemplate in each case a body in thought, and we contemplate ourselves thinking. The poem in this sense repeatedly performs how a history-changing reflective moment holds a range of creative energies in dynamic tension. Relevance theory’s ‘loose’ sifting of literal and other meanings, in Deirdre Wilson’s words, allows us to become aware of these two processes unfolding at the same time, and in relation to each other, as is demonstrated in this close reading.

No culture enjoys a perfect integration or a static equilibrium of its component traits. The diffusion of features of culture is a constant and crucial dynamic process. Acculturation, as a process of change dominated by the mutual influence of different cultures in close contact, is especially suited to interdisciplinary scrutiny. The study of acculturation is equally challenging for the linguist, the ethnographer, the anthropologist, and the historian interested in investigating processes and forms of cultural change, cultural integration, and causes for the selective receptivity of cultures. The multinational character of Soviet society against the background of its socioeconomic and ideological homogeneity renders a special quality to the dynamic tension between unity and diversity, especially with regard to culture, cultural change, and integration. Consequently, an investigation of acculturation as a component of the broader ethnic processes is not only justified, but imperative.

Concerning the intelligent control of technique parameters in weaving preparation process known as automatic winder in textile production, the yarn tension, yarn defects, running speed and acceleration are key technique parameters which should be carefully monitored and controlled. The linear and rotating speed will definitely affect the dynamic tension of warp yarn during the winding process. The acceleration of the tension device on automatic winder and tension roller will affect the swing speed and amplitude, eventually influence the value and abirritation of dynamic tension. The capacitive transducer is used to detect yarn defects for improvement of yarn quality, in addition such sensor is qualified to monitor the acceleration of dynamic tension regulator. The principle and designation as well as application of relevant sensor has been discussed in this paper in detail.
