Emerging technologies have an undeniably significant impact on the hospitality industry. Hotel owners and general managers face many challenges to compete in an ever-increasingly competitive market. Many hotels are quick to adopt some of the emerging technologies to maximize brand visibility, gain operational efficiencies, and enhance customer experiences. The digital transformation is well underway. Hotels need to keep up with technological changes; otherwise, they are taking risks being left behind. This chapter encompasses the digital transformation of the hospitality industry to examine the impact of it on operational competence and organizational performance in an emerging country like Taiwan. Five case studies are used in this chapter. In-depth interviews with the executives of the leading hotels in Taiwan are a source of rich information and reflect the gradual transformation of technology in the hotel industry of Taiwan.

Digital transformation and emerging technologies have disrupted the workplace, from the skills employees need in the workplace to the entrepreneurial mindset they require in this dynamic and globalized economic system. While the workers of today are navigating this transition, students require skills to lead the working landscape of the future. These skills, known as 21st century skills which encompass enterprising skills (i.e., creativity, innovation, teamwork), are generic skills that are transferable across different jobs and are a powerful predictor of long-term job success and will be increasingly important into the future. The Australian Government calls for enhanced enterprise skills due to their ubiquitous application and benefit across life and work domains. To answer this call, this chapter bridges the knowledge and resource gap that Australian STEAM academics have by explaining the development of a specially designed platform to teach the 21st century skills and enterprise skills.

It was observed, in these last years, the consolidation of the market intelligence (MI) concept as a source of competitive results in several strategic ways, impacting decision-making and entrepreneurship. This article intends to explore the conceptualization of the MI process, observing specially its application in Healthcare sector under the emergence of new technologies. Approaching the healthcare market, a framework for an intelligence system for marketing decisions was discussed and it is now evaluated with the contribution of information architecture and new technologies concepts. The review formerly produced is updated regarding the focus of the MI system under the influences and potentialities for emerging technologies application, through a lemma of “digital transformation” (DT), validating and expanding market intelligence background towards new dynamism and application in Healthcare contexts.

Natural language processing (NLP) is a critical part of the digital transformation. NLP enables user-friendly interactions between machine and human by making computers understand human languages. Intelligent chatbot is an essential application of NLP to allow understanding of users’ utterance and responding in understandable sentences for specific applications simulating human-to-human conversations and interactions for problem solving or Q&As. This research studies emerging technologies for NLP-enabled intelligent chatbot development using a systematic patent analytic approach. Some intelligent text-mining techniques are applied, including document term frequency analysis for key terminology extractions, clustering method for identifying the subdomains, and Latent Dirichlet Allocation for finding the key topics of patent set. This research utilizes the Derwent Innovation database as the main source for global intelligent chatbot patent retrievals.

Laburpena: Globalizazioak eta teknologia bat-batean sartzeak aldaketa azkarrak eragin dituzte, eta horiek jarduera ekonomikoaren sektore guztiei eragiten diete. Horiek horrela, sistema publikoek erronka garrantzitsuei egin beharko diete aurre. Aldaketa horietako batzuek berekin dakartzaten kanpo-efektu negatiboen ondorioz sortzen dira erronketako batzuk, edo, bestela, pertsonen eta gizarteen egonkortasuna, ziurtasuna eta babesa ahal den heinean sustatzeko beharraren ondorioz. Beste erronka batzuek, berriz, egoera berriek berekin dakartzaten aurrera egiteko aukera handiekin dute zerikusia, bai eta horiek baliatze aldera sektore publikoak hartu behar duen lidergo rol ordezkaezinarekin ere. Bi erronka-mota horiek administrazioa behartzen dute muturreko eta anbizio handiko berrikuntza-agenda bere gain hartzera. Agenda horren norainokoaren eraginez, sektore publikoak statu quoaren bereizgarri diren oinarrizko erakunde arteko akordioetako batzuk aztertu eta berriz diseinatu behar ditu. Lan honek aztertzen du zein diren egin beharreko oinarrizko eraldaketak, zer tresna behar diren esku hartzeko, eta zer dilema kudeatu behar diren. Horrez gain, gobernantza-ikuspegi berriaren funtsezko ezaugarriak aurkezten ditu. Eredu horrek aukera emango die gobernuei eta beren erakundeei esplorazioaren eta esperimentazioaren bidean murgiltzeko, eta sistema publikotik at kokatutako eragileekin lankidetzan aritzera irekitzeko, aldi berean gizarteari erantzuteko eta haren aurrean kontu emateko eskakizunen maila handiari eutsiz. Abstract: The administrations will only respond to their intention to serve society if they adapt to social changes driven by emerging technologies. The quadrilateral defining artificial intelligence and blockchain, biotechnology and nanotechnology will intensively transform the lives of people, the workplace and the ways in how decisions are made. Administrations must therefore learn to manage this new complexity. This involves combining the day-to-day of the services offered to the public along with a greater ability to adapt. Without adaptation, there is no consistency. And adaptation entails greater agility and cutting red tape, greater capacity for innovation and digital transformation. The article explores some of the key vectors to allow administrations to undertake this change.
