Pre-computation Scheme of Window $$\tau $$NAF for Koblitz Curves Revisited

When rotary machines are running, acousto-mechanical signals acquired from the machines are able to reveal their operation status and machine conditions. Mechanical systems under periodic loading due to rotary operation usually respond in measurements with a superposition of sinusoids whose frequencies are integer (or fractional integer) multiples of the reference shaft speed. In this study we built an online real-time machine condition monitoring system based on the adaptive angular-velocity Vold-Kalman filtering order tracking (AV2KF_OT) algorithm, which was implemented through a DSP chip module and a user interface coded by the LabVIEW®. This paper briefly introduces the theoretical derivation and numerical implementation of computation scheme. Experimental works justify the effectiveness of applying the developed online real-time condition monitoring system. They are the detection of startup on the fluid-induced instability, whirl, performed by using a journal-bearing rotor test rig.

A specialized shell-intersection finite element, which is compatible with adjoining shell elements, has been developed and has the capability of physically representing the complex three-dimensional geometry and stress state at shell intersections (Koves, 1993). The element geometry is a contoured shape that matches a wide variety of practical nozzle configurations used in ASME Code pressure vessel construction, and allows computational rigor. A closed-form theory of elasticity solution was used to compute the stress state and strain energy in the element. The concept of an energy-equivalent nodal displacement and force vector set was then developed to allow complete compatibility with adjoining shell elements and retain the analytical rigor within the element. This methodology provides a powerful and robust computation scheme that maintains the computational efficiency of shell element solutions. The shell-intersection element was then applied to the cylinder-sphere and cylinder-cylinder intersection problems.

The article discusses the issue of hydrostatic leveling. Its application is presented in structural health monitoring systems in order to determine vertical displacements of controlled points. Moreover, the article includes a complete computation scheme that utilizes the estimation from observation differences, allowing the elimination of the influence of individual sensors’ systematic errors. The authors suggest two concepts of processing the measurement results depending on the sensors’ connection method. Additionally, the second concept is extended by the elements allowing the prediction of the displacements by means of Kalman filtering.

Two de-noising methods, named as the averaging method in Gabor transform domain (AMGTD) and the adaptive filtering method in Gabor transform domain (AFMGTD), are presented in this paper. These two methods are established based on the correlativity of the source signals and the background noise in time domain and Gabor transform domain, that is to say, the uncorrelated source signals and background noise in time domain would still be uncorrelated in Gabor transform domain. The construction and computation scheme of these two methods are investigated. The de-noising performances are illustrated by some simulation signals, and the wavelet transform is used to compare with these two new de-noising methods. The results show that these two methods have better de-noising performance than the wavelet transform, and could reduce the background noise in the vibration signal more effectively.
