Objective: Assessment of the need to study the process of delivering a batch of containers from the rear terminal to the port to ensure uninterrupted communication between the rear terminal and the seaport and delivery a batch of containers exactly on time. As a primary task, the problem of analyzing the factors affecting the nature of the delivery process is solved. Methods: The methods of the theory of probability and mathematical statistics were applied in terms of determining the factors that affect the nature of the delivery process. The method of constructing process models was used to create a technological model for the delivery of containers by a block train to the port. Results: A technological model of container delivery by block train is presented. Diagrams were built showing the share of the main deviations from the schedule of container trains by types of operations for traffic, traction, corporate transport services. The main factors influencing the duration of individual operations with container block trains en route and the increase in the delivery time for a batch of containers from rear terminals to the seaport as a whole are identified. The random nature of the duration of the delivery of containers by block trains following the schedule has been established. Practical importance: The need to improve the methodology for choosing a method for delivering containers from the rear terminal to the port using simulation based on the identified factors influencing individual elements of the technological model of container delivery by a block train, deviations from the delivery time of containers, scheduled running of block trains is shown.

The factors affecting the growth of most common filamentous microorganisms are discussed. In a design procedure the following factors should be considered: wastewater composition (readily and slowly biodegradable substrates, inoculation), biomass retention time, actual substrate concentration in reactor, operational parameters in reactor (DO and nutrients concentration, pH, temperature) and cultivation conditions. The configurations of activated sludge process supporting the growth of floc-formers are described. As general design methods and criteria for the design of bulking control systems are not available due to the complexity of selection mechanisms, the technological parameters from successful bulking control case histories are summarized. The possibilities of mathematical activated sludge process models for design purposes are evaluated.

Obtaining information about destinations and services they provide is ever more based on user-generated content (UGC), which includes reviews of tourism services as well as evaluation of attractions and destinations by visitors. The growing importance of reviews of tourism services is recognized by tourism service providers, and some of them influence the content of reviews on review sites. At the same time, procedures for the prevention of false and misleading reviews, as well as their detection, are being intensively developed. This is documented in relevant sources, which were identified especially on the Web of Science, Scopus, Sciencedirect, Researchgate and the websites of MDPI, Emerald and Taylor & Francis Online. The aim of this study is to reveal how the verification of reviews can be improved with the intention to increase confidence in the review sites. In the form of case studies of TripAdvisor and Booking.com, the current rise of trust in reviews on these review sites was analysed and documented. The outputs of research include a SWOT analysis, processual analysis and an analysis of verification process, conditions, factors affecting trust in reviews on review sites. On these bases, a conceptual model for providing verified reviews of tourism services or verified destination assessment and two process models for providing verified reviews of tourism services and for providing verified destination assessment have been drawn up.

The goal of the research was to determine whether artworks said to be created by famous artists were appreciated more than the same artworks attributed to nonfamous artists. Analysis indicated that the works attributed to famous artists were more appreciated than the identical works attributed to nonfamous artists: The works were liked more and judged more interesting and beautiful (all p values < .001). Participants ( N = 309), all art nonexperts, also were willing to pay more to see the works if described as created by famous artists ( p < .001); importantly, however, no differences were found in ratings of the works’ comprehensibility. This pattern of results suggests that judgmental variations were attributable to participants’ peripheral processing of factors not intrinsic to the work itself. Dual process models of attitudes, popular in social psychology, were invoked to provide a framework for understanding the findings.

AbstractGiven the many types of suboptimality in perception, I ask how one should test for multiple forms of suboptimality at the same time – or, more generally, how one should compare process models that can differ in any or all of the multiple components. In analogy to factorial experimental design, I advocate for factorial model comparison.

In our initial publication on this subject1) we reported results demonstrating that contrast is the most important factor in producing the high image quality required for reliable image analysis. We also listed the factors which enhance contrast in order of the experimentally determined magnitude of their effect. The two most powerful factors affecting image contrast attainable with sheet film are beam intensity and KV. At that time we had only qualitative evidence for the ranking of enhancing factors. Later we carried out the densitometric measurements which led to the results outlined below.Meaningful evaluations of the cause-effect relationships among the considerable number of variables in preparing EM negatives depend on doing things in a systematic way, varying only one parameter at a time. Unless otherwise noted, we adhered to the following procedure evolved during our comprehensive study:Philips EM-300; 30μ objective aperature; magnification 7000- 12000X, exposure time 1 second, anti-contamination device operating.

Processing polymers from the liquid crystalline state offers several advantages compared to processing from conventional fluids. These include: better axial strength and stiffness in fibers, better planar orientation in films, lower viscosity during processing, low solidification shrinkage of injection moldings (thermotropic processing), and low thermal expansion coefficients. However, the compressive strength of the solid is disappointing. Previous efforts to improve this property have focussed on synthesizing stiffer molecules. The effect of microstructural scale has been overlooked, even though its relevance to the mechanical and physical properties of more traditional materials is well established. By analogy with the behavior of metals and ceramics, one would expect a fine microstructure (i..e. a high density of orientational defects) to be desirable. Also, because much microstructural detail in liquid crystalline polymers occurs on a scale close to the wavelength of light, light is scattered on passing through these materials.
