In this paper we discuss the Internet of Things (IoT) and industrial systems automation approach application for development a prototype of an autonomous beekeeping system. In this research we focus on one of the Arrowhead Framework core systems named the Event Handler system. MQTT service broker being a part of autonomous beekeeping system demonstrates the services provided by the Event Handler System. The proposed services broker applies a visual data flow programming approach. A Node-RED is used to prove viability and advantages of offered architecture implemented in a local automation cloud of autonomous beekeeping System of Systems. The autonomous beekeeping system’ prototype provides useful data on beehives and bee apiary status (internal and ambient temperature, humidity, weight of the hives, etc.) to the system users, so they can evaluate the hive status and take further action.

The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely developed in various fields of technology application. Using IoT can make it easier to build robust industrial systems and applications and provide visualization for the safety of industrial employees by taking advantage of the increasing number of radio frequencies, wireless devices, mobile devices and sensors. In understanding the development of IoT in the industry, the paper reviews the latest IoT research, a survey that compares the use of IoT from several existing papers, the main applications of IoT in the industry, and identifies trends and research challenges. The main contribution of this survey paper is to systematically summarize the current state of IoT in the industry.

Industry pushes a new type of Internet characterized as the Internet of Things, which represents a fusion of the physical and digital worlds. The technology of the Internet of Things opens new horizons for industrial automation, that is, automated monitoring, control, maintenance planning, and so forth, of industrial resources and processes. Internet of Things definitely needs explicit semantics, even more than the traditional Web—for automatic discovery and interoperability among heterogeneous devices and also to facilitate the behavioral coordination of the components of complex physical-digital systems. In this chapter, the authors describe their work towards the Global Understanding Environment (GUN), a general middleware framework aimed at providing means for building complex industrial systems consisting of components of different nature, based on the semantic and the agent technologies. The authors present the general idea and some emergent issues of GUN and describe the current state of the GUN realization in the UBIWARE platform. As a specific concrete case, they use the domain of distributed power network maintenance. In collaboration with the ABB Company, we have developed a simple prototype and vision of potential add-value this domain could receive from introducing semantic and agent technologies, and GUN framework in particular.

The existing stand-alone multimedia machines and online multimedia machines in the market have certain deficiencies, so they cannot meet the actual needs. Based on this, this research combines the actual needs to design and implement a multi-media system based on the Internet of Things and cloud service platform. Moreover, through in-depth research on the MQTT protocol, this study proposes a message encryption verification scheme for the MQTT protocol, which can solve the problem of low message security in the Internet of Things communication to a certain extent. In addition, through research on the fusion technology of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, this research designs scheme to provide a LightGBM intelligent prediction module interface, MQTT message middleware, device management system, intelligent prediction and push interface for the cloud platform. Finally, this research completes the design and implementation of the cloud platform and tests the function and performance of the built multimedia system database. The research results show that the multimedia database constructed in this paper has good performance.

This paper discusses the organisations involved in the development of application standards, European regulations and best practice guides, their scope of work and internal structures. It considers their respective visions for the requirements for future standardisation work and considers in more detail those areas where these overlap, namely human centric or integrative lighting, connectivity and the Internet of Things, inclusivity and sustainability.

The economic diversification concept gives hope for a country with rich natural resources to strengthen its economic basis. Thus industrial revolution era of 4.0 provides great opportunity to fasten the process. A study by McKensey in 2011 proved that the internet in the developing country contributes around 3.4% towards its GDP which means that the internet has become a new hope for the economy in the future. Indonesia is one of the countries that is attempting to maximize the role of the Internet of Things (IoT) for its economic growth. The attempt has made the retail and tourism industries as the two main sectors to experience the significant effect of IoT. In the process of optimizing the IoT to support the economic growth, Indonesia faces several issues especially in the term of the internet network quality and its distribution, the inclusive access of financial access and the infrastructure
