To improve the efficiency of gas-turbines, their firing temperature has been greatly increased up to the 1300°C range due to the progress in heat resistant alloys and blade cooling techniques. This trend, however, seems to become weakened recently. Accordingly the ceramic alternative with much higher limits are becoming even more attractive, though some of the past studies have not shown optimistic prospects for the application.
