Variable moment of inertia systems are common, and a popular laboratory system of this type is the “ball-and-beam”. Such systems are, however, nonlinear and often unstable. Efficient control requires full state information (or at least partial velocities), which are generally difficult to measure. That is why the design of state observers is a relevant problem. In this paper, a new design of an observer is proposed. This new nonlinear observer uses partial output injection and the circle criterion to ensure semiglobal stability. Moreover, we present a complete modeling of the system and systematic testing of the observer in comparison to a baseline in the form of a linear observer. The results show that the designed observer outperforms its linear counterpart and does not impede control.

In this article; we process DC-DC buck converter by linearizing control (non linear control INPUTOUTPUT). As one observes at the same time the inductor current not measurable by a linear state observer proposed. This method can control the system by varying the output voltages, input voltage and load resistance. The proposed method has a stable response capable of reaching the model reference smoothly.

The low frequency oscillation in the electrical generator connect to power grid is an important problem to control systems, especially in the gas turbine generators with high speed. The oscillation makes affect to life time, finance of operating and effect of energy process. There are many cause of the oscillation in governor speed control of power plants. They use PSS to do damping low frequency oscillation in recently [11], [12], [13], [14], [22], [23]. So PSS usually does process with delay cycle time, therefore it makes effect isn’t good result. This paper presents a method using linear in the gas turbine generator, which connects to power grid. By observe affect action of local oscillation of the power, study finds key point of oscillation time. From that, we take out decision to do prediction of damping in system and supply signal in to PSS to reduce damaging of this oscillation. Simulation results explain difference action of the system with linear observer and system without linear observer.

The new type of transportation based on intelligent driverless vehicles will bring great changes to people’s travel modes and put forward higher requirements for the ride comfortability of vehicles. This paper presents a new observing algorithm to estimate the suspension states in real time and cooperate with sliding mode controller to improve the ride comfortability. First, the nonlinear model of an air suspension system equipped with a continuously controllable damper is described in detail. Then, this nonlinear suspension model is linearized precisely based on the differential geometry theory; a linear Kalman filter observer is implemented for this linearized model; through the coordinate reverse transformation, the designed linear observer is transformed into a nonlinear one, which will be suitable for the original nonlinear system, so that, the proposed state observer can estimate all the states of the nonlinear quarter car suspension system. Then, in this nonlinear suspension system, a model reference sliding mode controller is designed to continuously control the damping force to improve the ride comfortability. Finally, the effectiveness and advantage of the proposed feedback linearization Kalman observer is illustrated by comparing with a traditional extended Kalman filter observer. The simulation research shows that the proposed feedback linearization observer enjoys a better estimation accuracy, higher operation efficiency, and greater control performance while cooperating with the sliding mode controller in ride comfortability control.
