Understanding what exists and happens beneath the Earth’s surface could help human being make better decision in life and production. This paper introduces depth sounding based on artificial magnetic variation in a near-surface geological environment. We focus on solving the forward problem of electromagnetic frequency sounding. First, work on vertical geoelectric layers based on variation in electromagnetic fields is investigated based on the depth and the skin-effect. The skin-effect in the time domain is examined for when the frequency of electromagnetic field decreases, the eddy current would penetrates deep into the environment. Based on this background, we construct a model for solving the frequency electromagnetic sounding problem. This model allows us to detect changes in conductivity related to the Earth’s shell depth versus electromagnetic measurement at one place on the Earth’s surface. A simulation tool is then implemented using MATLAB. This model is expected to contribute especially to teaching in the field of geophysics and to be applied widely in areas such as geological map drawing, structural study, and engineering geology and hydrogeology.

In the reservoir storage and operation process, the geological environment of reservoir bank will change significantly; the changes often cause some geological problems, such as landslide, reconstruction of reservoir bank etc. In this paper, Jiatanchang reservoir has been taken for example, under the premise of engineering geology and stability analysis, Kachugin Method was applied to forecast bank collapse; combining with urban planning and ecological protection, the corresponding protective proposal has been put forward.

Taking the anchor foundation pit of the super-large highway bridge in Yunnan as an example, the stability is studied. Based on the stratum characteristics of the tertiary strong weathered basalts (TSWB) and analysis principle of engineering geology, many aspects including topography and geomorphology, geological structure, geotechnical interfaces, structural characteristics, geotechnical parameters are considered to analyze the engineering geological environment of the foundation pit. Then, the qualitative analysis of stability and possible instability mode are made.

According to Pingyang tunnel karst complex groundwater environment ,This paper carried out thorough theoretical analysis and field observation from Pingyang tunnel stratum rock properties, engineering geology, hydrogeology, the surrounding patch, runoff and drainage and the changes of surface water environment, as well as tunnel excavating. The complex formation mechanism has given in the Pingyang tunnel karst water . Some effective references had put forward for the engineering treatment, provided some valuable references for other similar underground engineering construction.
