Thylacocephalans (Euarthropoda, Thylacocephala) are characterized by their “bivalved” carapace and three anterior prehensile appendages. It is still not clear how they used to live, or what their evolutionary history is. This study focuses on new thylacocephalans from the Late Cretaceous Konservat-Lagerstätten of Lebanon, which yielded the youngest representatives of the group. Three new genera and species are described in the Cenomanian sublithographic limestones of Hakel and Hadjoula, and two new genera and one new species are described in the Santonian chalky limestones of Sahel Alma. Among the specimens from Hakel and Hadjoula, Paradollocaris vannieri, Thylacocaris schrami and Globulacaris garassinoi are the first reports of thylacocephalans in the Cenomanian of Lebanon. Paradollocaris and Thylacocaris are assigned to Dollocarididae based upon their large optic notches limited by rostral and antero-ventral processes, their hypertrophied eyes, and their posterior notches with dorsal and ventral spines. Moreover, Thylacocaris presents a very peculiar character: an optic notch with two strong optic spines protecting the eye. Globulocaris is assigned to Protozoeidae based upon its small carapace with a distinct dorsal notch anterior to a strong postero-dorsal spine. Among the specimens from Sahel Alma, Keelicaris deborae is a new form of thylacocephalans in the Santonian of Lebanon. It presents a very unusual keel-shaped carapace with terraces and punctuations, and is assigned to Microcarididae. The new genus Hamaticaris, presenting a very peculiar hooked rostrum, is also erected for Protozoea damesi Roger, 1946 (Roger J. 1946. Invertébrés des couches à poissons du Crétacé supérieur du Liban. Mémoires de la Société géologique de France (Nouvelle série) 51: 5–92). These two species add to the well-known thylacocephalans from Sahel Alma: Pseuderichtus cretaceus Dames, 1886 (Dames W. 1886. Ueber einige Crustaceen aus den Kreideablagerungen des Libanon. Zeitschrift der Deutschen Geologischen Gesellschaft 38: 551–575), Protozoea hilgendorfi Dames, 1886 and Thylacocephalus cymolopos Lange et al., 2001 (Lange S, Hof CHJ, Schram FR, Steeman FA. 2001. New genus and species from the Cretaceous of Lebanon links the Thylacocephala to the Crustacea. Palaeontology 44 (5): 905–912). The occurrence of such diverse fauna of thylacocephalans markedly increases the diversity of the group during the Late Cretaceous. The diversity and abundance of the Sahel Alma thylacocephalans pose also the problem of causes of their disappearance from the fossil record after the Santonian.

Eight new taxa of Eriophyidae mites associated with native trees in the Cupania genus—C. oblongifolia Mart. and C. impressinervia Acev (Sapindaceae)—from the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, are described and illustrated. They include two new genera and two new species of Nothopodinae, Colopodacini (Setibia domatiagena   gen. nov., sp. nov. and Aricolopodos alagoensis gen. nov., sp. nov.), one new genus and two new species of Cecidophyinae, Colomerini (Euryslobos keronidos gen. nov., sp. nov. and Gammaphytoptus cupanius sp. nov.), and one new species of Phyllocoptinae, Tegonotini (Shevtchenkella caboata sp. nov.).

Currently, the Onisicdea (terrestrial isopods) is a massive Crustacea suborder of more than 3 700 species, but our knowledge of their paleodiversity is poor. In this paper, we present ten fossils of Crinocheta, the largest clade within the Onisicdea, discovered in Early Miocene (23 Ma) amber of Chiapas. We described three new genera and six new species including Palaeolibrinus spinicornis gen. nov. sp. nov., Armadilloniscus miocaenicus sp. nov., Archeostenoniscus robustus gen. nov. sp. nov., Archeostenoniscus mexicanus sp. nov., Palaeospherarmadillo mazanticus gen. nov. sp. nov., and Palaeospherarmadillo rotundus sp. nov. This study represents the first fossil record of the family Detonidae, Olibrinidae, and “Stenoniscidae”. From a paleoenvironmental reconstruction perspective, the oniscidean fauna presented here supports a particularly wet paleoenvironment, under brackish water influence, similar to an estuary.

We present an annotated and illustrated catalogue of fifty type specimens of Afrotropical Tortricidae deposited in the insect collection of the Royal Museum for Central Africa. In addition to primary types, paratypes and/or paralectotypes are described and illustrated when available. Also, syntypes of the treated species deposited in other museums are listed and discussed. The taxonomic position of each species is reviewed. Three genera are described as new: Cornips Razowski, Nepheloploce Razowski, and Recaraceria Razowski. One new species, Cornips gravidspinatus Razowki, is described from the type series of Tortrix dryocausta Meyrick. Three new genera and 11 new species from New Guinea are described in the tribe Monophlebulini. Erropera, gen, nov., contains four new species: E. ablusa, E. papuensis, E, pilosa and E. sedlaceki; Modicicoccus, gen. nov., contains four new species: M. gagnei, M. kaindiensis, M. monticolus and M. rtewsteadi; and Peengea, gen. nov., contains one new species: P. affinis. Two new species of Mottophlehirlus Cockerell, M. enarotalicus and M. gressitti, are described. The adult females of all 11 new species and the first instar nymphs of E. sedlaceki and P. affinis are described. A marsupium associated with the genital opening of the adult female is reported for the first time in the tribe Monophlebulini.

Only a few weevils have been described from Burmese amber, and although most have been misclassified, they show unusual and specialised characters unknown in extant weevils. In this paper, we present the results of a study of a much larger and more diverse selection of Burmese amber weevils. We prepared all amber blocks to maximise visibility of structures and examined these with high-magnification light microscopy as well as CT scanning (selected specimens). We redescribe most previously described taxa and describe 52 new species in 26 new genera, accompanied by photographs. We compare critical characters of these weevils with those of extant taxa and outline the effects of distortion on their preservation and interpretation. We conclude that only two weevil families are thus far represented in Burmese amber, Nemonychidae and a newly recognised family, Mesophyletidae, which appears closely related to Attelabidae but cannot be accommodated in this family. The geniculate antennae and long rostrum with exodont mandibles of most Mesophyletidae indicate that they were highly specialised phytophages of early angiosperms preserved in the amber, likely ovipositing in flowers or seeds. This weevil fauna appears to represent an extinct mid-Cretaceous ecosystem and fills a critical gap in the fossil record of weevils.

Following the itemization of the described Madagascan Coraebini (Buprestidae: Agrilinae) (Bellamy 2001a), additional new genera and species of this large fauna have been described (Bellamy 2001b, 2003, 2006). After a preliminary study of the perceived ant-mimicking species I have accumulated in loans from, and during previous visits to, the vast collection of this fauna held by the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, a new monotypic myrmecomorphic genus and species is described. All other putative ant-mimicking species amongst previously described and currently available specimens belong to the genus Entomogaster Saunders, 1871. The new genus is described now for the one new species found to not be congeneric with Entomogaster. In deference to the classification for the tribe Coraebini Bedel, 1921 presented by Kubáň, et al. (2001), the genus-group taxon described herein is provisionally placed in the subtribe Toxoscelina Majer, in Kubáň, et al., 2001.
