This review aimed to explore the psychometric properties of quality of life (QOL) scales to identify appropriate tools for research and clinical practice in Arabic-speaking adults. A systematic search of the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature® (EBSCO Information Services, Ipswich, Massachusetts, USA), MEDLINE® (National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland, USA), EMBASE (Elsevier, Amsterdam, Netherlands) and PsycINFO (American Psychological Association, Washington, District of Columbia, USA) databases was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews and Meta- Analysis guidelines. Quality assessment criteria were then utilised to evaluate the psychometric properties of identified QOL scales. A total of 27 studies relating to seven QOL scales were found. While these studies provided sufficient information regarding the scales’ validity and reliability, not all reported translation and cross-cultural adaptation processes. Researchers and clinicians should consider whether the psychometric properties, subscales and characteristics of their chosen QOL scale are suitable for use in their population of interest. Keywords: Quality of Life; Cross-Cultural Comparison; Translations; Psychometrics; Validity and Reliability; Surveys and Questionnaires; Systematic Review.

Abstract Background: The Post-Liver Transplant Quality of Life (PLTQ) instrument is a specific, disease-based questionnaire to evaluate health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of liver transplantation (LTx) recipients. The aim of this study is translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Persian version of PLTQ (PV-PLTQ) questionnaire. Methods: All of the stages of translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the original PLTQ instrument was carried out according to the published guideline. A total of 175 LTx recipients completed the PLTQ and short form-36 (SF-36) questionnaires. Sixty-eight randomly selected patients were asked to complete the PLTQ, 2 to 3 months later. Face validity, content validity, acceptability internal consistency, test-retest reliability, sensitivity to change, and convergent validity were evaluated. Results: The results of face validity, content validity, and missing data proportion indicate that PV-PLTQ questionnaire is acceptable and easy to understand. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the PV-PLTQ questionnaire was 0.97 (0.82 to 0.95) for domains. The results of test-retest reliability show moderate to good intraclass correlation coefficient from 0.6 to 0.86 (P< 0.05). Also, the results of the Kruskal-Wallis test shows that this questionnaire is sensitive to HRQOL changes. The correlations between PV-PLTQ domains and physical and mental components of SF-36 present a good convergent validity (P< 0.05).Conclusio: In general, The PV-PLTQ questionnaire is a valid, reliable and sensitive to change instrument to evaluate HRQOL in LTx recipients and can be applied in further researches and clinical settings in the Persian speaking population.

Background:Behçet’s Disease (BD) is a chronic, inflammatory, rheumatic disease that is characterized by mucocutaneous lesions and can be seen major organ involvement such as eyes, musculoskeletal system, gastrointestinal system and central nervous system. Impaired quality of life, aerobic capacity, respiratory function and life satisfaction, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety and fatigue are seen commonly in BD patients like the other rheumatic diseases. Considering that regular physical activity effects survival for patients and healthy people, it is important to determine the factors affecting physical activity level and exercise barriers. Objectives:The aim of this study is to investigate physical activity level and exercise barriers in patients with BD.Methods:45 patients were included in the study. Physical activity level, exercise barriers, fatigue, depression, pain, quality of life and aerobic capacity were evaluated with International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Exercise Barriers and Benefits Scale (EBBS), Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Behçet’s Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire (BDQoL) and 6 minutes walk test, respectively. Spaerman’s Correlation Coefficient were used to investigate the relationships between exercise barriers and other parameters. Results:IPAQ demonstrated that 22 (48.8%) of the patients had low level physical activitiy. Additionally, physical activity levels significantly correlated with both exercise barriers (rho= -0.345) and exercise benefits (rho= 0.320) (p<0.05). BDQoL scores also correlated significantly with exercise barrier scores (rho= 0.338), (p<0.05). No significant relationships were observed for other parameters. Conclusion:Exercise and physical activity are of great importance because of its positive contribution to the musculoskeletal system for BD patients’ rehabilitation. Thinking of negative effects of physical inactivity, patients with Behçet disease should be encouraged to exercise. Also, reasons of physical inactivity should be investigated and treated.References:[1]Ilhan B, Can M, Alibaz-Oner F, Yilmaz-Oner S, Polat-Korkmaz O, Ozen G et al.
