AbstractIn this paper, we study how inflation is viewed by the general population of New Zealand. Based on unique representative survey data collected in 2016 and using descriptive statistics and multivariate regressions, we explore various aspects of how laypersons perceive inflation and form inflation expectations. We focus on how an individual’s economic situation, information search and interest in inflation, economic knowledge, and attitudes and values are related to inflation perception and expectation, as well as the individual’s reaction to them. We interpret our findings as a clear indication that laypersons’ knowledge about inflation is much better described by the imperfect information view prevailing in social psychology than by the rational actor view typically assumed in economics.

Introduction. Despite national recommendations, routine opt-out HIV testing has not been widely adopted by physicians. Guided by previous research on physician barriers to HIV testing, we developed a physician-targeted video to promote routine opt-out HIV screening. The objective of this study was to evaluate this video intervention. Methods. From June to July 2016, physicians in two primary care clinics completed an online survey prior to and after watching the video. Survey items assessed acceptability of the video and HIV testing knowledge, attitudes, and intention to screen. Descriptive statistics were generated to analyze data. Results. Of the 53 participants, 90% liked or strongly liked the video. Pre- to postvideo, significant improvements were seen in the knowledge of national HIV screening recommendations (45.3% to 67.9%; p = .010) and of the proportion of unaware Houstonians living with HIV (22.6% to 75.5%; p < .001). Participant beliefs about the likelihood of patients accepting HIV testing increased from 47.2% to 84.9% pre- to postvideo ( p < .001). Intention to screen did not change; participants had high intentions pre- and postvideo. Conclusions. Our study found that a video is an acceptable HIV testing promotion medium for physicians. Our video improved physician HIV testing knowledge and attitudes, overcoming key barriers to HIV testing.

<p class="0abstract">Gadgets nowdays become one of the most important necessities in human life. The use of gadgets is not only becomes a widespread among adults, but the younger generation also being exposed to this diverse technology gadgets. The gadgets usage among younger generation contributes to the numerous impacts on their socio-emotional development whether in negative or positive ways. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between knowledge and attitude, towards technology gadget usage and the students' socio-emotions development at Tiram, Johor. This study was conducted using quantitative research design and the questionnaires were distributed to 260 students in three schools around the Tiram zone for data collection purpose. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation inference statistics to identify the relationship between the two variables. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes, towards the gadget usage among students and their socio-emotion’s development. The findings of this study indicate that the students' knowledge and attitude towards the gadgets have a relationship with the students' socio-emotions. Therefore, this study is important in providing information especially to the schools, parents and students in order to figure out the appropriate alternative on using the gadgets more effectively.<strong></strong></p>
