The method of nanoscaled sodium dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate Na2[B12H12] synthesis is presented. The composite is heated to 200°C to yield the desired product, forming with the introduction of triethyl- ammonium salt [Et3NH]2[B12H12] into the silicate matrix of a sodium liquid glass. The morphology and phase composition of the synthesized sample are studied through SEM and X-ray diffraction methods, in comparison to those of a standard salt sample Na2[B12H12]. Based on the obtained data, the sample under study is an amorphous composite, on the surface of which nanoscale crystals of Na2[B12H12] form.

The article presents the results of the study of the properties of the sol of silicate paint. The chemical structure of the polysilicate solutions obtained with the addition of glycerol was studied by IR spectroscopy. It is shown, that the interaction of potassium liquid glass and glycerol is weak and due to the partial replacement of hydrogen ions by potassium ions.

AbstractIt is well known that the liquid dynamics slows down on approaching the liquid-gas critical point or the liquid-glass transition. Recently we have found by the sound attenuation measurements that the metal-nonmetal (M-NM) transition also induces slow dynamics. In the M-NM transition range of expanded liquid Hg, we have observed anomalous increase in the sound attenuation due to the structural relaxation process. Assuming a simple Debye-type relaxation, we have estimated that the relaxation time should be of the order of nanoseconds and revealed that the relaxation strength has a broad maximum in the M-NM transition range. Moreover, two types of anomalies have been observed also in the semiconductor-metal (S-M) transition range of liquid Te-Se mixtures. We present the recent experimental results of the sound attenuation measurements and discuss briefly the mechanisms of the slow dynamics in the metal-nonmetal transition range of liquids.

Interferometry has provided the sensitivity needed for the gathering, through suitable windows, of infrared absorption and emission spectra of excellent resolution (<1 cm−1) from sample volumes even as small as EHD contact regions. Thus the power of molecular vibrational spectroscopy can be used to determine phase changes and structural changes in fluids subjected to conditions prevailing in EHD contacts. In this paper, some of the infrared methods are illustrated by the description of preliminary work in which the cavity of a high-pressure diamond anvil cell was used for contact simulation. Reference is made to a fluorescence-spectroscopic method of pressure determination in the diamond cell, which is also helpful in locating liquid/glass transition points.

The studies were performed suggesting that the cause of P2O5 losses during apatite-staffelite ores (ASO) treatment are due to non-selective flocculation of fine classes during flotation. When using strong flocculants, special preparation of condensed slurries is necessary, ensuring their deflocculation before the flotation process. A scheme and mode of preparation of fine classes for the flotation process have been developed, including thickening of the classification overflows using strong anionic flocculants and deflocculation of the thickened product before the flotation process with reagents-dispersants used in the basic flotation mode. A mode of preparation of slimes of ASO ores for flotation is proposed, including thickening of the discharge of the classification operation using the anionic flocculant “Praestol-2540”, conditioning of the condensed product with additions of liquid glass and caustic soda in a ratio of 1 : 1, dilution and re-thickening of deflocculated slimes, consolidation and flotation thickened sludge and sand. The big laboratory tests have shown that the application of the developed regime provides a total increase in the extraction of P2O5 from ore from 70,1 to 71,5 % with an increase in the P2O5 content in apatite concentrate from 37,1 to 37,8 %, which makes the developed technology promising for processing refractory ASO at Kovdorsky GOK.
