Nowadays, IoT technology is used in various application domains, including the healthcare, where sensors and IoT enabled medical devices exchange data without human interaction to securely transmit collected sensitive healthcare data towards healthcare professionals to be reviewed and take proper actions if needed. The IoT devices are usually resource-constrained in terms of energy consumption, storage capacity, computational capability, and communication range. In healthcare applications, many miniaturized devices are exploited for healthcare data collection and transmission. Thus, there is a need for secure data aggregation while preserving the data integrity and privacy of the patient. For that, the security, privacy, and aggregation of health data are very important aspects to be considered. This paper proposes a novel secure data aggregation scheme called “An Efficient and Privacy-Preserving Data Aggregation Scheme with authentication for IoT-Based Healthcare applications” (EPPDA). EPPDA is based to verification and authorization phase to verify the legitimacy of the nodes that need to join the process of aggregation. EPPDA, also, uses additive homomorphic encryption to protect data privacy and combines it with homomorphic MAC to check the data integrity. The major advantage of homomorphic encryption is allowing complex mathematical operations to be performed on encrypted data without knowing the contents of the original plain data. The proposed system is developed using MySignals HW V2 platform. Security analysis and experimental results show that our proposed scheme guarantees data privacy, messages authenticity, and integrity, with lightweight communication overhead and computation.

Due to the advantages of large-scale, data-centric and wide application, wireless sensor networks have been widely used in nowadays society. From the physical layer to the application layer, the multiply increasing information makes the data aggregation technology particularly important for wireless sensor network. Data aggregation technology can extract useful information from the network and reduce the network load, but will increase the network delay. The non-exchangeable feature of the battery of sensor nodes makes the researches on the battery power saving and lifetime extension be carried out extensively. Aiming at the delay problem caused by sleeping mechanism used for energy saving, a Distributed Collision-Free Data Aggregation Scheme is proposed in this article to make the network aggregate data without conflicts during the working states periodically changing so as to save the limited energy and reduce the network delay at the same time. Simulation results verify the better aggregating performance of Distributed Collision-Free Data Aggregation Scheme than other traditional data aggregation mechanisms.

While Internet of Things (IoT) technology comprises of nodes that are self-configuring and intelligent which are interconnected in a dynamic network, utilization of shared resources has been revolutionized by the cloud computing effectively reducing the cost overheadamong the cloud users. The major concerns of IoT infrastructure are reliability, performance, security and privacy. Cloud computing is popular for its unlimited storage and processing power. Cloud computing is much more matured with the capability to resolve most of the issues in IoT technology. A suitable way to address most of the issues in IoT technology is by integrating IoTparadigm into the Cloud technology. In this regard, we propose a methodology of applying our EPAS scheme for IoT applications. In our previous work[2] , we have proposed an Enhanced Privacy preserving gene based data Aggregation Scheme (EPAS) for private data transmission and storage by utilizing Enhanced P-Gene erasable data hiding approach. Enhanced P-Gene scheme ensures secure transmission and storage of private data by relying on a data aggregation scheme fully dependent on erasable data hiding technique. In the current work we analyse the applicability of the EPAS scheme for IoT applications. Experimental results show the suitability of the proposed scheme for application involving numeric data and also demonstrates performance improvement with existing proposals for data aggregation in cloud.
