The promotion of person-centered medicine and people-centered healthcare has been occurring in Croatia for decades. Professor Andrija Štampar, considered by many as the father of public health, pioneered various public health projects in Croatia and abroad. Croatia is a country with a long history of patient associations, as well as one with an array of public health projects recognized worldwide. Recently, a group of enthusiasts gathered here to undertake the creation of a variety of projects related to the development of person-centered medicine. The International College on Person Centered Medicine (ICPCM) emerged from the ongoing annual Geneva Conferences and from the aspiration to promote medicine of the person, for the person, by the person, and with the person. The main theme of the First International Congress of the ICPCM in Zagreb in November 2013 was the Whole Person in Health Education and Training. The Zagreb statement on the appraisal and prospects for person-centered medicine in Croatia was formulated and adopted, wherein it was concluded that Croatia could contribute significantly to the development of person-centered medicine and people-centered healthcare, within Croatia and abroad.

The present study evaluated the effectiveness of a Mental Toughness Education and Training Program (MTETP) in elite football officiating. The MTETP consisted of four individual and two group-based workshops designed to develop mental toughness (MT) and enhance performance in three English Football League (EFL) referees. Adopting a single-subject, multiple-baseline-across-participants design, MT and referee-assessor reports were evaluated. Self and coach-ratings of MT highlighted an instant and continued improvement in all three referees during the intervention phases. Performance reports of all referees improved throughout the intervention phases compared with the baseline phase. Social validation data indicated that an array of strategies within the MTETP facilitated MT development. Discussions acknowledge theoretical and practical implications relating to the continued progression of MT interventions in elite sport.

The integrated use of technologies in learning in formal education and training in The Netherlands is far from realized, and there is still a long way to go to reach that goal. But what are the views of students and early career teachers about learning with technologies? This chapter focuses on Dutch research into the expectations and experiences of students and early career teachers as to their views of learning with technologies in education and training. A survey was conducted online, followed by focus group interviews among all groups studied. The most important findings of the research are being presented here. Special attention is given to the use of mobile technologies and the Internet, social networking sites and gaming, bullying, spam and plagiarism, homework and learning, technologies in schools and in learning, motivation of students and the role of teachers.
