In this paper, we extended the Hamy mean (HM) operator, the Dombi Hamy mean (DHM) operator, the Dombi dual Hamy mean (DDHM), with the intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) to propose the intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi Hamy mean (IFDHM) operator, intuitionistic fuzzy weighted Dombi Hamy mean (IFWDHM) operator, intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi dual Hamy mean (IFDDHM) operator, and intuitionistic fuzzy weighted Dombi dual Hamy mean (IFWDDHM) operator. Following this, the multiple attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) methods are proposed with these operators. To conclude, we utilized an applicable example for the selection of a car supplier to prove the proposed methods.

The selection of manufacturing processes for a given application is a complex problem of multicriteria decision-making although there have been several different approaches that can be utilized to select a suitable alternative. However, identifying appropriate multicriteria decision-making approach from the list of available methods for a given application is a difficult task. This work suggests a methodology to assess different selection approaches, which are the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and VIKOR: stepwise procedure. This valuation was done depending on the following factors: number of alternative processes and criteria, agility through the process of decision-making, computational complexity, adequacy in supporting a group decision, and addition or removal of a criterion. A case study in this study was presented to analyse the evaluation methodology. The criteria used to evaluate and identify the best manufacturing process were categorized into productivity, accuracy, complexity, flexibility, material utilization, quality, and operation cost. Five manufacturing processes were considered, including gravity die casting, investment casting, pressure die casting, sand casting, and additive manufacturing. The results showed that each approach was suitable for the problems of manufacturing process selection, in particular toward the support of group decision-making and uncertainty modelling. Manufacturing processes were ranked based on their respective weights for AHP, TOPSIS, and VIKOR, and sand casting is the best. In terms of computational complexity, the VIKOR method performed better than TOPSIS and AHP. Moreover, the VIKOR and TOPSIS methods were better convenient to the selection of manufacturing processes for agility during the process of decision-making, the number of alternative processes and criteria, adequacy in supporting a group decision, and addition or removal of a criterion.

The multi-attribute and group-decision problem in the selection of a construction diversion scheme for large hydropower projects often involves multi-decision subjects and schemes. Each scheme includes multiple attributes, and the attribute values and weights are multi-attribute group decision-making problems with interval numbers. In this study, a new method for solving the multi-attribute group-decision problem is proposed by integrating regret theory, negotiation gathering theory, and the Monte Carlo simulation technique. Firstly, decision-makers’ comprehensive perception utility for each scheme is calculated based on the regret theory. Then, non-uniform and fuzzy opinion of different decision subjects are negotiated and gathered, and negotiation intervals of the attribute weights are calculated through group negotiation gathering theory. Moreover, fuzzy complementary judgment matrixes describing an excellent degree of the diversion schemes are obtained by conducting Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, the alternative diversion schemes are sorted in terms of their priorities, and the reliability of the sorting procedure is confirmed. The multi-attribute group-decision problem in the selection of a construction diversion scheme for Jinping I Hydropower Station is effectively solved by the proposed method. The proposed method is reliable and may significantly contribute to engineering decision-making.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a three-way group decision-making approach to address the selection of green supplier, by extending decision-theoretic rough set (DTRS) into hesitant fuzzy linguistic (HFL) environment, considering the flexible evaluation expression format of HFL term set (HFLTS) and the idea of minimum expected risk in DTRS. Design/methodology/approach Specifically, the authors first present the calculation method of the conditional probability and discuss the loss functions of DTRS with HFL element (HFLE), along with some associated properties being investigated in detail. Further, three-way group decisions rules can be deduced, followed by the cost of every green supplier candidate. Thus, based on these discussions, a novel green supplier selection DTRS model that combines multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) and HFLTS is designed. Findings A numerical example of green supplier selection, the comparative analysis and associated discussions are conducted to illustrate the applicability and novelty of the presented model. Practical implications The selection of green supplier has played a critically strategic role in sustainable enterprise development due to continuous environmental concerns. This paper offers an insight for companies to select green supplier selection from the perspective of three-way group decisions. Originality/value This paper uses three-way decisions to address green supplier selection in the HFL context, which is considered as a MCGDM issue.
