Water polluted by molybdenum was treated with the process of pre-oxidation adsorption-coagulation-sedimentation-filtration. Powdered activated carbon can adsorb effectively low concentration molybdenum in water. Potassium permanganate can enhance the adsorption effect of activated carbon. The water treated was up to the Standard for Dinking Water Quality of China, in the condition of molybdenum concentration 0.95 mg/L-1.10 mg/L, turbidity <2 NTU and colority <15 units. And the treatment process is as pre-oxidation 30 min with potassium permanganate concentration of 1 mg/L, adsorption 30 min with powdered activated carbon concentration of 40 mg/L, coagulation 30 min with aluminium polychlorid of 40mg/L and polyacrylamide of 0.8mg/L, sedimentation 90 min, and filtration rate 4 m/h.

In order to study the effect of fillers with adsorption and drying on rubbish degradation, leachate production and water quality of leachate, five cylinder reactors for landfill disposal were built to simulate the operation of landfill, one reactor was used as contrast reactor, no filler added in it. Saw powder, activated carbon, zleolite and newspaper were added into another four reactors. In the experiment, rubbish cell height, leachate production, COD and NH3-N concentration of leachate and heavy metals concentration of leachate were monitored. The experimental results indicate that fillers with adsorption and drying in rubbish have strong effect on reducing leachate production, accelerating degradation of rubbish and reducing pollutants in leachate. Overall, saw powder is more perfect in taking these actions than other three fillers.

Urban development, agricultural runoff and industrialization have contributed pollution loading on the environment.  In this study Hemavathi river water from a stretch from its origin point to its sangama was studied for pollution load by determining parameters of water quality like pH, Alkalinity,  Ca, Mg, Nitrate, TDS, BOD, COD , and the results were compared with WHO and BIS standards to draw final conclusion on the quality of water.

Changes of microbial indices of water quality in the Vistula and Brda rivers as a result of sewage treatment plant operationThis paper reports the results of studies of microbiological changes in the water quality of the Vistula and Brda rivers after the opening of sewage treatment plants in Bydgoszcz. The study involved determining the microbiological parameters of water quality. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the quality of the water in both rivers had improved decidedly after the opening of the plants, although an increased number of individual groups of microorganisms was found at the treated sewage outlet from one of the plants.
