Background: In this study, we developed a convenient methodology for the synthesis of coumarin linked to pyrazolines and pyrano [2,3-h] coumarins linked to 3-(1,5-diphenyl-4,5- dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-chromen-2-one derivatives using Chlorosulfonic acid supported Piperidine-4-carboxylic acid (PPCA) functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4-PPCA) catalyst. Materials and Methods:: Fe3O4-PPCA was investigated as an efficient and magnetically recoverable Nanocatalyst for the one-pot synthesis of substituted coumarins from the reaction of coumarin with a variety of aromatic aldehydes in high to excellent yield at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. The magnetic nanocatalyst can be easily recovered by applying an external magnet device and reused for at least 10 reaction runs without considerable loss of reactivity. Results and Conclusion: The advantages of this protocol are the use of commercially available materials, simple and an inexpensive procedure, easy separation, and an eco-friendly procedure, and it shows good reaction times, good to high yields, inexpensive and practicability procedure, and high efficiency.

AbstractAlkynes are amongst the most valuable functional groups in organic chemistry and widely used in chemical biology, pharmacy, and materials science. However, the preparation of alkyl-substituted alkynes still remains elusive. Here, we show a nickel-catalyzed deaminative Sonogashira coupling of alkylpyridinium salts. Key to the success of this coupling is the development of an easily accessible and bench-stable amide-type pincer ligand. This ligand allows naturally abundant alkyl amines as alkylating agents in Sonogashira reactions, and produces diverse alkynes in excellent yields under mild conditions. Salient merits of this chemistry include broad substrate scope and functional group tolerance, gram-scale synthesis, one-pot transformation, versatile late-stage derivatizations as well as the use of inexpensive pre-catalyst and readily available substrates. The high efficiency and strong practicability bode well for the widespread applications of this strategy in constructing functional molecules, materials, and fine chemicals.

An ionic lamellar coordination polymer based on a flexible triphosphonic acid linker, [Gd(H4nmp)(H2O)2]Cl2 H2O (1) (H6nmp stands for nitrilo(trimethylphosphonic) acid), presents high efficiency to remove sulfur and nitrogen pollutant compounds from model diesel. Its oxidative catalytic performance was investigated using single sulfur (1-BT, DBT, 4-MDBT and 4,6-DMDBT, 2350 ppm of S) and nitrogen (indole and quinolone, 400 ppm of N) model diesels and further, using multicomponent S/N model diesel. Different methodologies of preparation followed (microwave, one-pot, hydrothermal) originated small morphological differences that did not influenced the catalytic performance of catalyst. Complete desulfurization and denitrogenation were achieved after 2 h using single model diesels, an ionic liquid as extraction solvent ([BMIM]PF6) and H2O2 as oxidant. Simultaneous desulfurization and denitrogenation processes revealed that the nitrogen compounds are more easily removed from the diesel phase to the [BMIM]PF6 phase and consequently, faster oxidized than the sulfur compounds. The lamellar catalyst showed a high recycle capacity for desulfurization. The reusability of the diesel/H2O2/[BMIM]PF6 system catalyzed by lamellar catalyst was more efficient for denitrogenation than for desulfurization process using a multicomponent model diesel. This behavior is not associated with the catalyst performance but it is mainly due to the saturation of S/N compounds in the extraction phase.

AbstractA series of furan–yne systems were transformed into the corresponding para-benzoquinone derivatives by gold(ΙΙΙ) catalyst. The two-step procedure consisted of a phenol synthesis and subsequent oxidation with iodobenzene diacetate. The reactions can be carried out in a one-pot procedure with the same precatalyst. The para-benzoquinone could simply be converted into the corresponding hydroquinones by reduction with sodium dithionate. This protocol features high efficiency, mild conditions, and wide substrate scopes.

The ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-(3-sulfopropyl)imidazolium chloride ([MIMPs]+Cl-) in combination with 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) and sodium nitrite (NaNO2) as a catalytic system demonstrates high efficiency in the one-pot two-step aerobic oxidative condensation of benzyl alcohols with 1,2-phenylenediamines to give benzimidazoles. Various benzimidazoles are obtained in good to excellent yields by this strategy.

AbstractA TiO2–SiO2 nanocomposite catalyzes the one-pot cyclocondensation reaction of 1H-indole-2,3-diones (isatins), 1,3-cyclohexanediones, and urea at T = 70°C under solvent-free conditions with high efficiency. The present method affords the corresponding spiro products in high yields and short reaction time. The unique features of the TiO2–SiO2 nanocomposite are high catalytic activity, ease of preparation, non-toxicity, low loading, and recyclability.

AbstractThe ternary chalcopyrite semiconductor Cu(In/Ga)(Se/S)2 is currently used as an absorber layer in high efficiency thin film solar cells. In this study, various types of I-III-VI (I = Cu, III = Ga or In, VI = S or Se) thin films (CuGaS2, CuInS2 and CuInSe2) were prepared from a series of organometallic precursors, M[(S/Se)2CNMeR]n (M = Cu, In, Ga; R = alkyl) by aerosol-assisted chemical vapour deposition (AACVD). In contrast to the metal alkyl compounds, MR3 (M = In and Ga; R = alkyl), which are pyrophoric, the precursors are easy to synthesize by one-pot reactions and are air stable. The optimum growth temperature for the preparation of these films on glass substrates using aerosol-assisted chemical vapour deposition (AACVD) was found to be above 400 °C in terms of crystallinity, although deposition does occur at lower temperatures. The films have been characterised using XRPD, SEM and EDS. SEM analyses show all films are microcrystalline. XRPD results show evidence of the crystalline nature of theses films. The results of this comprehensive study are presented and discussed.
