If Ω ⊂ ℝn is a bounded domain, the existence of solutions [Formula: see text] of div u = f for f ∈ L2(Ω) with vanishing mean value, is a basic result in the analysis of the Stokes equations. In particular, it allows to show the existence of a solution [Formula: see text], where u is the velocity and p the pressure. It is known that the above-mentioned result holds when Ω is a Lipschitz domain and that it is not valid for arbitrary Hölder-α domains. In this paper we prove that if Ω is a planar simply connected Hölder-α domain, there exist solutions of div u = f in appropriate weighted Sobolev spaces, where the weights are powers of the distance to the boundary. Moreover, we show that the powers of the distance in the results obtained are optimal. For some particular domains with an external cusp, we apply our results to show the well-posedness of the Stokes equations in appropriate weighted Sobolev spaces obtaining as a consequence the existence of a solution [Formula: see text] for some r < 2 depending on the power of the cusp.

This paper is concerned with the fractional quasigeostrophic equation with modified dissipativity. We prove the local existence of solutions in Sobolev spaces for the general initial data and the global existence for the small initial data when1/2≤α<1.

The goal of this paper is three-fold. First, we prove that the Cauchy problem for a generalized KP-I equation [Formula: see text] is locally well-posed in the anisotropic Sobolev spaces [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Second, we prove that the Cauchy problem is globally well-posed in [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] if [Formula: see text]. Finally, we show that the Cauchy problem is globally well-posed in [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] if [Formula: see text] Our result improves the result of Saut and Tzvetkov [The Cauchy problem for the fifth order KP equations, J. Math. Pures Appl. 79 (2000) 307–338] and Li and Xiao [Well-posedness of the fifth order Kadomtsev–Petviashvili-I equation in anisotropic Sobolev spaces with nonnegative indices, J. Math. Pures Appl. 90 (2008) 338–352].

Abstract We consider parabolic nonlocal Venttsel’ problems in polygonal and piecewise smooth two-dimensional domains and study existence, uniqueness and regularity in (anisotropic) weighted Sobolev spaces of the solution. The nonlocal term can be regarded as a regional fractional Laplacian on the boundary. The regularity results deeply rely on a priori estimates, obtained via the so-called Munchhausen trick, and sophisticated extension theorem for anisotropic weighted Sobolev spaces.

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>We consider the two-dimensional MHD Boundary layer system without hydrodynamic viscosity, and establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions in Sobolev spaces under the assumption that the tangential component of magnetic fields dominates. This gives a complement to the previous works of Liu-Xie-Yang [Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 72 (2019)] and Liu-Wang-Xie-Yang [J. Funct. Anal. 279 (2020)], where the well-posedness theory was established for the MHD boundary layer systems with both viscosity and resistivity and with viscosity only, respectively. We use the pseudo-differential calculation, to overcome a new difficulty arising from the treatment of boundary integrals due to the absence of the diffusion property for the velocity.</p>
