The precision of transferring paper is key factors to decide the print overprint accuracy, and vibration has an important impact on paper transferring accuracy. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) can be used to extract the features of vibration test signal. According to the intrinsic mode function (IMF) by extracted, it is useful to analyze the dynamic characteristics of swing gripper arm on motion state. Due to the actual conditions of printing, the vibration signal of Paper-Transferring mechanism system is complex quasi periodic signals. Hilbert-Huang marginal spectrum that is based on empirical mode decomposition can solve the problem which is modals leakage by FFT calculated in frequency domain. Through the experimental research, the phase information of impact load at the moment of grippers opening or closing, which can be used for the optimization design of Paper-Transferring system and the improvement in the accuracy of swing gripper arm.

Abstract It is important to recognize the type of cloud for automatic observation by ground nephoscope. Although cloud shapes are protean, cloud textures are relatively stable and contain rich information. In this paper, a novel method is presented to extract the nephogram feature from the Hilbert spectrum of cloud images using bidimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD). Cloud images are first decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) of textural features through BEMD. The IMFs are converted from two- to one-dimensional format, and then the Hilbert–Huang transform is performed to obtain the Hilbert spectrum and the Hilbert marginal spectrum. It is shown that the Hilbert spectrum and the Hilbert marginal spectrum of different types of cloud textural images can be divided into three different frequency bands. A recognition rate of 87.5%–96.97% is achieved through random cloud image testing using this algorithm, indicating the efficiency of the proposed method for cloud nephogram.

A method to analyze the acoustic signals collected in fully-mechanized caving face is presented in this paper. Through analyzing the marginal spectrum and frequency spectrum of intrinsic mode functions obtained by empirical mode decomposition, acoustic signals’ frequency and amplitude characteristics are gotten, that is, high frequency signals about 1000Hz ~2800Hz are produced when the top coal is combined with gangue. Furthermore, the acoustic signals’ instantaneous energy spectrums in the frequency range of 1000Hz ~2800Hz can be used to identify the coal-rock interface.

Huang’s data-driven technique of Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is presented, and issues related to its effective implementation are discussed. Integrating signal directly will produce a trend, it will cause distortion and interfere with the calculation results. This paper discusses the reasons that cause the integrated signal trend, compares the different methods for extracting trend. The traditional steps use the linear fitting and a high-pass filter to remove low frequency signal to extract trend. This paper uses Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method to extract integrated signals trend, discussed the advantages of Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method in this case, proves that Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) has a good application in integrated signal trend extraction.

This paper proposed a de-trend method for vibration signal of telemetry based on the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) by correlation coefficient matrix. The signal is decomposed to a series of intrinsic mode component and the remainder item by EMD. It mainly distinguishes between the remainder item and the signal trend, according to the correlation coefficient matrix to determine whether some intrinsic mode component belongs to the trend item or not. The results show that signal trends can be extracted accurately through the effective combination EMD with correlation coefficient matrix and the proposed method has good applicability for different signals and different trends.

For empirical mode decomposition (EMD) of Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) exists the problem of mode mixing. An analysis method based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) is proposed to apply to fault diagnosis of rolling bearing. This paper puts forward, after signal pretreatment, applying EEMD method to acquire the intrinsic mode function (IMF) of fault signal. Then according to correlation coefficient for IMFs and the signal before decomposing by EEMD method, some redundant low frequency IMFs produced in the process of decomposition can be eliminated, then the effective IMF components are selected to perform a local Hilbert marginal spectrum analysis, then fault characteristics are extracted. Through the vibration analysis of inner-race fault bearing it shows that this method can be effectively applied to extract fault characteristics of rolling bearing.

The importance of lung sound analyses is increasing day by day very rapidly. In this paper, we present a new method for analysis of two classes of lung signals namely wheezes and crackles. The procedure used in this article is based on improved Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) called Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (EEMD) to analyze and compare continuous and discontinuous adventitious sounds with EMD. These two proposed procedures decompose the lung signals into a set of instantaneous frequency components. Function (IMF). The continuous and discontinuous adventitious sounds are present in an asthmatic patient, produces a non-stationary and nonlinear signal pattern. The empirical mode decomposition (EMD) decomposes such characteristic signals. The instantaneous frequency and spectral analysis related to dual techniques specified above are utilized by IMF to investigate and present the outcome in the time-frequency distribution to investigate the qualities of inbuilt properties of lung sound waves. The Hilbert marginal spectrum has been used to represent total amplitude and energy contribution from every frequency value. Finally, the resultant EEMD analysis is better for wheezes that solves mode mixing issues and improvisation is seen over the EMD method.
