<p>In this paper, a designed circuit used for low-frequency filters is implemented and realized the filter is based on frequency-dependent negative resistance (FDNR) as an inductor simulator to substitute the traditional inductance, which is heavy and high cost due to the coil material manufacturing and size area. The simulator is based on an active operation amplifier or operation transconductance amplifier (OTA) that is easy to build in an integrated circuit with a minimum number of components. The third and higher-order Butterworth filter is simulated at low frequency for low pass filter to use in medical instruments and low-frequency applications. The designed circuit is compared with the traditional proportional integral controller enhanced (PIE) and T section ordinary filter. The results with magnitude and phase response were compared and an acceptable result is obtained. The filter can be used for general applications such as medical and other low-frequency filters needed.</p>

In our prior study, a systematic approach was used to devise Langevin transducers for high-power applications where the energy efficiency was not considered in the design criteria. In this paper, the impedance matching methods are thus proposed to evaluate what matching topology is appropriate for their use. Both the series inductor scheme and low pass filter composed of a series inductor and shunt capacitor are examined as matching circuits. According to MATLAB simulation, the resonance frequency is seen at 36.79 kHz due to a series L circuit, and its associated impedance is reduced by 70.45% from that of its non-matching condition. The measured resonance frequency is 36.77 kHz and the corresponding impedance is decreased by 59.52%. Furthermore, the acoustic pressure is measured to determine the effect of the matching circuit on the transducer’s actual behavior. The transducer with a series L circuit shows more efficient matching results, 2.28 kPa of positive acoustic pressure is emitted without matching and 3.35 kPa is emitted with a series L element, respectively. As a result, this study demonstrates how to evaluate the influence of matching circuits by using our customized approach rather than commercial SPICE programs, as well as how to experimentally verify the acoustic behavior of high-power Langevin transducers.

Abstract Dual polarization quadrature phase shifting keying (DP-QPSK) modulation format along with coherent receiver helps in increasing the data carrying capability of existing optical networks without any major change in existing transmission infrastructure. The various linear and nonlinear fiber effects, frequency and phase errors are corrected in electrical domain at the receiver end with digital back propagation algorithms (DBP) instead of in-line compensation. In such a case the selection of optimum values of system parameters make the task easier for DBP algorithms. This paper highlights the importance of finding optimum operating point of continuous modulus algorithm (CMA) for better adaptive equalization (AE). The paper also discusses the optical pulse shaping using Gaussian optical band-pass filter to improve the spectral characteristics of DP-QPSK signal.

Abstract In an effort to characterize the factors influencing the perception of self-motion rotational cues, vestibular self-motion perceptual thresholds were measured in 14 subjects for rotations in the roll and pitch planes, as well as in the planes aligned with the anatomic orientation of the vertical semicircular canals (i.e., left anterior, right posterior; LARP, and right anterior, left posterior; RALP). To determine the multisensory influence of concurrent otolith cues, within each plane of motion, thresholds were measured at four discrete frequencies for rotations about earth-horizontal (i.e., tilts; EH) and earth-vertical axes (i.e., head positioned in the plane of the rotation; EV). We found that the perception of rotations, stimulating primarily the vertical canals, was consistent with the behavior of a high-pass filter for all planes of motion, with velocity thresholds increasing at lower frequencies of rotation. In contrast, tilt (i.e, EH rotation) velocity thresholds, stimulating both the canals and otoliths (i.e., multisensory integration), decreased at lower frequencies and were significantly lower than earth-vertical rotation thresholds at each frequency below 2 Hz. These data suggest that multisensory integration of otolithic gravity cues with semicircular canal rotation cues enhances perceptual precision for tilt motions at frequencies below 2 Hz. We also showed that rotation thresholds, at least partially, were dependent on the orientation of the rotation plane relative to the anatomical alignment of the vertical canals. Collectively these data provide the first comprehensive report of how frequency and axis of rotation influence perception of rotational self-motion cues stimulating the vertical canals.

ABSTRACT. Statistical analysis of 82-years (1901-1982) record of precipitation from 27 rain-recording stations in Punjab state of lndia has been carried out to assess the climate shift if any in the state. The central part of the study is the trend and spectrum analysis of annual. monsoon and winter rainfall of different stations in the region. It is seen that frequency distribution of 19 rainfall series out of 81 series is normally distributed. Maikov linear type of persistence is observed in some of the rainfall series. Marin-Kendall test indicates the decreasing trend in winter rainfall of all the stations and is found to be significant in case of Amritsar, Taran Taran, Tanda, Ludhiana and Ranike. Low-pass filter reveals that trend is not linear but oscillatory consisting of periods of 10 years or more. It is seen that winter rainfall of most of the stations exhibits the decreasing trend from 1935-40 to 1965-70. It is also revealed by the low-pass filter curves that winter rainfall of all t1le sla1ions remained below average from 1960 till the end of the study period. The spectral analysis indicates a significant cycle of 4.1 to 27 years in some of the stations and Quasi-Biennial Oscillations (QBO) over many stations.

This paper presents a single ended faulted phase-based traveling wave fault localization algorithm for loop distribution grids which is that the sensor can get many reflected signals from the fault point to face the complexity of localization. This localization algorithm uses a band pass filter to remove noise from the corrupted signal. The arriving times of the faulted phase-based filtered signals can be obtained by using phase-modal and discrete wavelet transformations. The estimated fault distance can be calculated using the traveling wave method. The proposed algorithm presents detail level analysis using three detail levels coefficients. The proposed algorithm is tested with MATLAB simulation single line to ground fault in a 10 kV grounded loop distribution system. The simulation result shows that the faulted phase time delay can give better accuracy than using conventional time delays. The proposed algorithm can give fault distance estimation accuracy up to 99.7% with 30 dB contaminated signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for the nearest lines from the measured terminal.

I<span>Image-fusion provide users with detailed information about the urban and rural environment, which is useful for applications such as urban planning and management when higher spatial resolution images are not available. There are different image fusion methods. This paper implements, evaluates, and compares six satellite image-fusion methods, namely wavelet 2D-M transform, gram schmidt, high-frequency modulation, high pass filter (HPF) transform, simple mean value, and PCA. An Ikonos image (Panchromatic-PAN and multispectral-MULTI) showing the northwest of Bogotá (Colombia) is used to generate six fused images</span>: MULTIWavelet 2D-M, MULTIG-S, MULTIMHF, MULTIHPF, MULTISMV, and MULTIPCA. <span>In order to assess the efficiency of the six image-fusion methods, the resulting images were evaluated in terms of both spatial quality and spectral quality. To this end, four metrics were applied, namely the correlation index, erreur relative globale adimensionnelle de synthese (ERGAS), relative average spectral error (RASE) and the Q index. The best results were obtained for the </span> MULTISMV image, which exhibited spectral correlation higher than 0.85, a Q index of 0.84, and the highest scores in spectral assessment according to ERGAS and RASE, 4.36% and 17.39% respectively.
