Abstract Significance of ethanol as an alternative source of renewable energy is increasing every day. In this study a chemical mechanism has been developed to predict the characteristic of ethanol oxidation in a wide range of temperature and pressure of 300–2500 K and 1–50 atm, respectively. The mechanism is generated using reaction mechanism generator (RMG). Sensitivity analysis on the mechanism is done to find the reactions responsible in the deviation of numerical results with experimental data. Rate coefficient of important reactions is corrected with well-accepted data from literature which helps to improve the mechanism against experiment. The validation is done with laminar burning speed and ignition delay time results at various operating conditions. The results show a reasonable agreement in both high pressure and low temperature cases. A good prediction of major species concentration is found in flame structure measurement. A comparison of the current mechanism with other available chemical mechanisms is also presented at different operating conditions. Compared to other mechanisms, this improved mechanism has an advantage of handling the high pressure and low temperature operating conditions within a reasonable time and accuracy.

On-ground de-icing activity represents a need to protect the aircraft under low-temperature operating conditions, with a high degree of saturation of suspended water vapor or in precipitation conditions that may favor depositions on aircraft surfaces. This activity determines the use of de-icing and anti-icing agents in significant quantities, which leads to compliance with environmental protection standards. In this paper the authors identify solutions for the management of the residues resulting from de-icing activities that lead to soil contamination with different chemical compounds from the fluids used for de-icing.

The harmonic reducer, with its advantages of high precision, low noise, light weight, and high speed ratio, has been widely used in aerospace solar wing deployment mechanisms, antenna pointing mechanisms, robot joints, and other precision transmission fields. Accurately predicting the performance of the harmonic reducer under various application conditions is of great significance to the high reliability and long life of the harmonic reducer. In this paper, a set of automatic harmonic reducer performance test systems is designed. By using the CANOpen bus interface to control the servo motor as the drive motor, through accurately controlling the motor speed and rotation angle, collecting the angle, torque, and current in real time, the life cycle test of space harmonic reducer was carried out in high vacuum and low temperature environment on the ground. Then, the collected data were automatically analyzed and calculated. The test data of the transmission accuracy, backlash, and transmission efficiency of the space harmonic reducer were obtained. It is proven by experiments that the performance data of the harmonic reducer in space work can be more accurately obtained by using the test system mentioned in this paper, which is convenient for further research on related lubricating materials.
