A novel near-infrared fluorescent probe NIRM was designed and synthesized. The probe exhibited a low limit of detection for Hg2+ (3.2 nM) as well as a large Stokes shift (115 nm), which is very favorable for cell imaging studies.

A lipid droplets targeting fluorescent probe with large Stokes shift (184 nm) for in vivo tumor imaging was achieved by simply appending a 4-substituted ester group on to the classic coumarin.
