Lithium ion battery is a kind of secondary battery that mainly relies on lithium ions moving between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. Lithium-ion batteries are considered to be the most ideal automotive power battery and has been widely applied in EV industry due to the outstanding advantages including but not limited to high energy density, high open circuit voltage and wide operating temperature range. The technical bottleneck of lithium-ion power batteries is how to further increase the energy density and optimize operating performance at low temperature. Besides, how to decrease the cost for lithium ion battery is also a big problem. The higher potential end of the power supply device is called cathode materials and the lower potential end of the power supply is called anode materials. At cathode end, Lithium ion intercalation process happens during discharging cycle and lithium ion deintercalation process happens during charging. For anode end, Lithium ion deintercalation process happens during charging cycle and lithium ion insertion process happens during discharging process. Good cathode/anode materials should include but not limited to the following characters: large specific capacity density, long cycling lifetime, good rate performance, proper electric potential and relatively stable structure during charge and discharge process.

The supply of pulsed power loads is considered a key driver for the integration of energy storage systems (ESSs) with warship power systems. ESSs are identified as a means to offer fast response dynamics capable of driving pulsed loads for sustained periods. This paper contributes a novel investigation into the performance of a Nickel Manganese Cobalt based lithium-ion battery system to supply laser directed energy weapon (LDEW) loads for future warship combat power systems using time-domain simulation methodology. The approach describes a second order Thévenin equivalent circuit battery model validated against a battery module of a type used in commercial marine ESS. The ability of the battery system to power LDEW loads peaking at 2 MW for up to periods of four minutes were simulated for beginning of life (BoL) and degraded conditions. The repeatability of the pulsed power supply with ESS is also reported. Simulation results show that Quality of Power Supply (QPS) is maintained within acceptable transient tolerance using a feed-forward control circuit that controls the DC-DC converter interface between the battery system and the LDEW load. The results of the study demonstrate the battery system operating envelope for the LDEW under investigation.

The design of multifunctional household electronic medicine-chest is described in this article. It includes two parts: intelligent electronic control unit and the body of the chest. The body of chest consists of 8 drawers and an operation panel. A switch sensor is settled in each drawer to detect whether the drawer is opened and the medicine is taken out. The electronic control unit is used to set and store the information of taking medicine for four members in a family. In order to confirm the information is set correctly, the information of taking medicine can be checked by means of the function of reviewing. According to the set information, it can remind the proper member to take medicine at the set time. A section of voice and a blinking light are used to guide the member to open the corresponding drawer and take out a certain number of medicines. The Medicine-Chest has two power supply modes, an outer power supply and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery supply. A power manage circuit is used to switch between the two supplies and to recharge the battery. The designed multifunctional household electronic medicine-chest is useful for aged people.
