BACKGROUND. Patients with chest pain and no evidence of obstructive coronary artery disease on angiography (NoCAD) are frequently considered not to have significant pathology and their symptoms trivialized. This study compared the health status of patients with NoCAD, obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) and healthy subjects. METHOD. Patients undergoing angiography within the preceding 12 months for the investigation of chest pain were categorized as NoCAD or CAD on the basis of the angiographic findings and completed a health-related quality of life instrument, the Short Form-36 (SF-36). These were compared with a ‘healthy control’ group that were randomly selected from the electronic white pages and recruited if they had no self-reported history of cardiovascular disease. Cross sectional comparisons between the three groups were age adjusted and performed using liner regression. RESULTS. As shown in the table below, the healthy controls were significantly younger and therefore comparison of SF36 scores were age adjusted. All SF-36 sub-scales (except for bodily pain) and summary scores (see table ), were significantly lower in the CAD and NoCAD groups compared to the healthy controls. There were no differences in SF-36 scores between NoCAD and CAD. CONCLUSION. Compared with a healthy population, patients with stable CAD and NoCAD have significantly poorer quality of life asF-36. Future management strategies need to address the health outcomes in these patients. Aim. To study the mid-term effects of enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) in the structural and functional parameters of blood vessels, exercise tolerance and quality of life indicators in patients with verified coronary artery disease (CAD).Material and methods. Patients (n=70) with verified stable CAD (angina pectoris class II-III) complicated by chronic heart faillure class II-III (NYHA) were included in the study. Data from 65 patients (48 to 74 years old; 45 men and 20 women) are included in the final analysis. All patients had a course of EECP (35 hours procedures with a compression pressure of 220-280 mm Hg). All patients at baseline, 3 and 6 months later had a 6 walk minute test (6WMT), an assessment of the clinical status, quality of life of patients (Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire, SF-36). Computer nailfold video capillaroscopy, photoplethysmography with pulse wave recording and contour analysis, applanation tonometry to assess central aortic systolic pressure and radial augmentation index were performed to assess the structural and functional state of large and microcirculatory vessels.Results. Significant improvement in exercise tolerance both after 3 and after 6 months (increase in distance in 6WMT by 44.6% after 3 months and 34.3% after 6 months, p <0.05), improved quality of life (increased overall score on the SF-36 questionnaire from 50.3±8.1 to 59.8±8.8, p<0.05), an increase in the left ventricular ejection fraction were found. Significant improvement in indicators showing the function of the endothelium of both large vessels (phase shift: from 5.6 [2.45; 7.3] to 6.8 [3.1; 8.1] m / s) and microcirculatory vessels (occlusion index: from 1.51 [1.21; 1.7] to 1.66 [1.2; 1.9]), as well as a decrease in functional disorders of the capillary bed of the skin (% of perfused capillaries, density of the capillary network in the test with reactive hyperemia) were found after 3 months. However, after 6 months, there were no significant changes in these parameters compared to the baseline value. No significant change in indicators showing structural remodeling of both large vessels and microcirculatory vessels was found.Conclusion. The positive effect of the EECP course on the functional status (exercise tolerance) and quality of life in patients with stable coronary artery disease complicated by chronic heart faillure was found both after 3 and 6 months. Positive dynamics of the functional state of large vessels and microvasculature was found only after 3 months.

Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain the leading cause of premature death worldwide. According to epidemiological studies CVD prevention is highly effective. A 50% reduction in mortality from coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with exposure to risk factors and only 40% with improved treatment. Purpose.  To assess the quality of life (QOL) in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) and metabolic disorders, to establish its impact on therapy effectiveness. We examined 280 patients with AH and comorbidity - 171 women and 109 men aged 45-75 years. Along with AH, all patients had comorbidities: 72.6 % suffered from coronary artery disease (CAD), 10.5% after myocardial infarction (MI), 35 % had clinical signs of heart failure (HF), 22, 1% - type 2 diabetes mellitus (t2DM), 27.4% - chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods. Anthropometry, blood pressure (BP) measurement, immunoassay (C-reactive protein), biochemical blood analysis (lipid, carbohydrate metabolism parameters, QOL determination (questionnaire Sf-36). Results. In patients with comorbidity of pathologies (presence of AH, t2DM, CKD, CAD, obesity), there was a decrease in assessments in almost all indicators of QOL, and especially significant limitations in the performance of daily activities due to both physical and mental state. Conclusion. The degree of AH in patients with t2DM decreased QOL of physical activity, role-physical functioning, pain and general health, reflecting physical health, as well as mental health, including vitality, social activity, role emotional functioning. T2DM in patients with AH significantly worsens QOL of this category of patients as in physical component summary and mental component summary. The indicators of QOL are significantly affected by the duration of t2DM, as well as the degree of compensation. Achievement of the target BP levels in patients with AH with t2DM shows an improvement in a number of QOL parameters and makes it possible to recommend the Sf-36 questionnaire as a criterion for the effectiveness of the therapy.

Abstract Background Anxiety is associated with poorer prognosis in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Due to their severity and chronic course, anxiety disorders, particularly generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder (PD), are of considerable interest and clinical importance in this population. This study has two main objectives: (1) to estimate the prevalence and incidence of GAD and PD in patients with CAD over a 2-year period and (2) to prospectively assess the association between PD or GAD and adverse cardiac events, treatment adherence, CAD-related health behaviors, quality of life and psychological distress. Design/Method This is a longitudinal cohort study in which 3610 participants will be recruited following a CAD-related revascularization procedure. They will complete an interview and questionnaires at 5 time points over a 2-year period (baseline and follow-ups after 3, 6, 12 and 24 months). The presence of PD or GAD, adherence to recommended treatments, health behaviors, quality of life and psychological distress will be assessed at each time point. Data regarding mortality and adverse cardiac events will be collected with a combination of interviews and review of medical files. Discussion This study will provide essential information on the prevalence and incidence of anxiety disorders in patients with CAD and on the consequences of these comorbidities. Such data is necessary in order to develop clear clinical recommendations for the management of PD and GAD in patients with CAD. This will help improve the prognosis of patients suffering from both conditions.
