We show how the third integral homology of a group plays a role in determining whether a given group is isomorphic to an inner automorphism group. Various necessary conditions, and sufficient conditions, for the existence of such an isomorphism are obtained.

Let G be a group and G' be its commutator subgroup. An automorphism α of G is called an IA-automorphism if x-1α (x) ∈ G' for each x ∈ G. The set of all IA-automorphisms of G is denoted by IA (G). A group G is called semicomplete if and only if IA (G)= Inn (G), where Inn (G) is the inner automorphism group of G. In this paper we characterize semicomplete finite p-groups of class 2, give some necessary conditions for finite p-groups to be semicomplete, and characterize semicomplete non-abelian groups of orders p4 and p5.

AbstractWe consider the abelianizations of some normal subgroups of the automorphism group of a finitely generated free group. Let Fn be a free group of rank n. For d ≥ 2, we consider a group consisting the automorphisms of Fn which act trivially on the first homology group of Fn with ${\mathbf Z}$/d${\mathbf Z}$-coefficients. We call it the congruence IA-automorphism group of level d and denote it by IAn,d. Let IOn,d be the quotient group of the congruence IA-automorphism group of level d by the inner automorphism group of a free group. We determine the abelianization of IAn,d and IOn,d for n ≥ 2 and d ≥ 2. Furthermore, for n=2 and odd prime p, we compute the integral homology groups of IA2,p for any dimension.

AbstractLet $$\varGamma $$ Γ be the graph on the roots of the $$E_8$$ E 8 root system, where any two distinct vertices e and f are connected by an edge with color equal to the inner product of e and f. For any set c of colors, let $$\varGamma _c$$ Γ c be the subgraph of $$\varGamma $$ Γ consisting of all the 240 vertices, and all the edges whose color lies in c. We consider cliques, i.e., complete subgraphs, of $$\varGamma $$ Γ that are either monochromatic, or of size at most 3, or a maximal clique in $$\varGamma _c$$ Γ c for some color set c, or whose vertices are the vertices of a face of the $$E_8$$ E 8 root polytope. We prove that, apart from two exceptions, two such cliques are conjugate under the automorphism group of $$\varGamma $$ Γ if and only if they are isomorphic as colored graphs. Moreover, for an isomorphism f from one such clique K to another, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for f to extend to an automorphism of $$\varGamma $$ Γ , in terms of the restrictions of f to certain special subgraphs of K of size at most 7.

Abstract In this paper, firstly, we study the structural form of reflective integral for a given system. Then the sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure there exists the reflective integral with these structured form for such system. Secondly, we discuss the necessary conditions for the equivalence of such systems and a general three-dimensional differential system. And then, we apply the obtained results to the study of the behavior of their periodic solutions when such systems are periodic systems in t.

AbstractWe provide some necessary and some sufficient conditions for the automorphism group of a free product of (freely indecomposable, not infinite cyclic) groups to have Property (FA). The additional sufficient conditions are all met by finite groups, and so this case is fully characterised. Therefore, this paper generalises the work of N. Leder [Serre’s Property FA for automorphism groups of free products, preprint (2018), https://arxiv.org/abs/1810.06287v1]. for finite cyclic groups, as well as resolving the open case of that paper.

The bipartite consensus of high-order edge dynamics is investigated for coopetition multiagent systems, in which the cooperative and competitive relationships among agents are characterized by positive weight and negative weight, respectively. By mapping the initial graph to a line graph, the distributed control protocol is proposed for the strongly connected, digon sign-symmetric structurally balanced line graph; and then we give sufficient conditions for the third-order multi-gent system to achieve both the bipartite consensus of edge dynamics and the final value of bipartite consensus. By transforming the coefficients of characteristic polynomial from complex domain to real number domain, the sufficient conditions for the bipartite consensus of high-order edge dynamics are also proposed, and the final values of the high-order edge dynamics on multiagent systems are obtained.

A sequence of nonnegative integers is $k$-graphic if it is the degree sequence of a $k$-uniform hypergraph. The only known characterization of $k$-graphic sequences is due to Dewdney in 1975. As this characterization does not yield an efficient algorithm, it is a fundamental open question to determine a more practical characterization. While several necessary conditions appear in the literature, there are few conditions that imply a sequence is $k$-graphic. In light of this, we present sharp sufficient conditions for $k$-graphicality based on a sequence's length and degree sum.Kocay and Li gave a family of edge exchanges (an extension of 2-switches) that could be used to transform one realization of a 3-graphic sequence into any other realization. We extend their result to $k$-graphic sequences for all $k \geq 3$. Finally we give several applications of edge exchanges in hypergraphs, including generalizing a result of Busch et al. on packing graphic sequences.
