The evaluation of government data sustainability is a multicriteria decision making problem. The analytic network process (ANP) is among the most popular methods in determining the weights of criteria, and its limitation is the un-convergence problem. This paper proposes a hybrid ANP (H-ANP) method, which aims to improve the ANP by combining the weights obtained from the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The proposed method is proved to be convergent since the network of the H-ANP is strongly connected. According to the simulation experiments, H-ANP is more robust than ANP under different settings of parameters. It also shows a higher Kendall cor-relationship and lower MSE with respect to AHP, compared with the existing method (e.g., the averagely connected ANP method). An empirical example is also provided, which uses H-ANP to evaluate the government data sustainability of a city.

This chapter focuses on the analysis of the globalization process as a phenomenon of the recent decades. The chapter starts with an analysis of the roots of globalization, which are a combination of economic policies and labour-saving technologies. Then the most powerful actor, the transnational company, is introduced, followed by the analysis of their position in the world division of labour. Special attention is given to the changes brought by financial crises, especially the Great Recession. The changing nature of globalization is demonstrated also via the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end, the author presents possible future scenarios, applying them on the Czech Republic, as a country strongly connected with the world economy and placed in the position of a dependent economy.

Abstract The analysis of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is of great importance to deeply understand the dynamics of this coronavirus spread. Based on the complexity of it, a modified susceptible-infected-removed (SIR) model is applied to analyse the time dependence of active and hospitalized cases in China. The time evolution of the virus spread in different provinces was adequately modelled. Changeable parameters among them have been obtained and turned to be not naively independent with each other. The non-extensive parameter was found to be strongly connected with the freedom of systems. Taken into the prevention and treatment of disease, more measures by the government lead to higher values of it.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the world. Despite developments in personalized treatment, lung cancer is still problematic for therapy due to resistance and metastasis. Moreover, heterogeneity of lung cancers makes treatment difficult. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find novel prognostic and diagnostic markers. Desmosomal proteins seem to be a good candidate to be acknowledged due to their function in the cell. Desmosomal proteins are known to be responsible for accurate cell–to–cell adhesion in physiological conditions. In cancer cells, the destabilization of desmosomes by the loss of proteins promotes the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition, which is strongly connected to metastasis. Desmoglein 3 is one of the desmosomal proteins often deregulated in cancer, including lung cancer. Taking the above, our goal was to analyze the results on DSG3 function and its clinical implications in lung cancer.

The article focuses on English translations of Bolesław Leśmian’s Urszula Kochanowska, especially those by Marian Polak-Chlabicz and Krzysztof Bartnicki. The author of the article aims to achieve a critical comparison between different translation strategies ventured to conquer the diffi culties associated with translating this verse, which is strongly connected with Polish culture and literature. The close-reading of the translations is accompanied by a short outline of Leśmian’s existence in English language along with an attempt to answer the question of whether translating his poetic language is at all possible or is Leśmian’s work an evident proof (as many critics say) of the phenomenon known as untranslatability.

The following two optimization problems on acyclic digraph analysis are solved. The first of them consists of determining the minimum (in terms of volume) set of arcs, the removal of which from an acyclic digraph breaks all paths passing through a subset of its vertices. The second problem is to determine the smallest set of arcs, the introduction of which into an acyclic digraph turns it into a strongly connected one. The first problem was solved by reduction to the problem of the maximum flow and the minimum section. The second challenge was solved by calculating the minimum number of input arcs and determining the smallest set of input arcs in terms of the minimum arc coverage of an acyclic digraph. The solution of these problems extends to an arbitrary digraph by isolating the components of cyclic equivalence in it and the arcs between them.

Single spikes can trigger repeatable sequences of spikes in cortical networks. The mechanisms that support reliable propagation from such small events and their functional consequences for network computations remain unclear. We investigated the conditions in which single spikes trigger reliable and temporally precise sequences in a network model constrained by experimental measurements from turtle cortex. We examined the roles of connectivity, synaptic strength, and spontaneous activity in the generation of sequences. Sparse but strong connections support sequence propagation, while dense but weak connections modulate propagation reliability. Unsupervised clustering reveals that sequences can be decomposed into sub-sequences corresponding to divergent branches of strongly connected neurons. The sparse backbone of strong connections defines few failure points where activity can be selectively gated, enabling the controlled routing of activity. These results reveal how repeatable sequences of activity can be triggered, sustained, and controlled, with significant implications for cortical computations.

„A nagy átalakulás” (Polányi Károly) magyarázatot adott az Európa sorsát a 19. és a 20. század első felében meghatározó tényezőkre. Az átalakulás átrajzolta az egész Föld képét és a világ folyamatosan alkalmazkodott a változó feltételekhez. A technika fejlődése szinte zérusra csökkentette a tranzakciós költségeket és ez az információk, az áruk és az emberek áramlását hihetetlenül felgyorsította. A vállalatokon belül szerveződő értékláncok előbb a nemzetállamokon belül kialakuló lokális, majd regionális, végül globális ellátási láncokká szerveződtek. Ennek következtében világunk globális ökoszisztémává változott. Az ökoszisztémákra jellemző komplexitás és szoros csatolás következtében a Földet önszerveződő válságok [Perrow, 1984] fenyegetik. Az egész emberiség egy újabb „nagy átalakulást” kényszerül átélni. Mindez arra vezetett, hogy az országok, a vállalatok és az egyének életének feltételei alapvetően megváltoznak. “The Great Transformation” (Károly Polányi) gave an explanation to the crucial factors which fundamentally determined the fate of Europe in the 19th Century and in the first half of the 20th Century. Technological development reduced transaction costs almost to zero, and this helped the flow of information, commodities and people to speed up in an incredibly manner. Value chains within companies and corporations were also transformed, they were first reorganized as local supply chains within nation states, then as regional and finally global supply chains. As a result, our world has become a global ecosystem. Due to the complexity and strongly connected character of ecosystems, Earth is threatened crises of self-organization [Perrow, 1984]. The entire mankind is forced to face another “Great Transformation”. This article examines the essential change of the conditions of life of nations, corporations and individuals.

The Udora dialect of Zyrian Komi lacks the morphological opposition between the present and future tenses that is found in other Komi dialects and the written standard. The morphemes corresponding to these tenses are, however, found in this dialect, with individual verbs showing a strong tendency to choose one of the two. This study shows that the two morphemes are not in free variation but rather carry various grammatical meanings, and that the variants are strongly connected to the lexical aspect of individual verbs. Due to the rigidity of the system, the authors refer to the variants here as conjugation types. The -as- conjugation type, which corresponds to the Standard Komi future marker, occurs with all transitive verbs and a majority of intransitive verbs. However, the study also identifies a group of intransitive verbs occurring with the conjugation type -e̮-. The verbs in the latter group can be analysed as temporally continuous. Additionally, there are other subgroupings that can be postulated, including verbs that describe involuntary actions. The system interacts in a predictable manner with Komi derivational morphology. The study also corroborates the previously proposed historical connection between this characteristic of verbal morphology in the Udora dialect and Old Komi. The authors suggest that the verbal morphology seen in these Komi varieties must predate the contemporary tense system. The study provides a new direction for analysing the development of the tense system in the Permic languages, as it is shown that the factors underlying the variation extend beyond transitivity. As a previously undescribed phenomenon, the study describes the use of the Udora conjugation types in narrative tense structuring and demonstrate parallels with Standard Komi.

Abstract The global dynamics of the two-species Lotka–Volterra competition patch model with asymmetric dispersal is classified under the assumptions that the competition is weak and the weighted digraph of the connection matrix is strongly connected and cycle-balanced. We show that in the long time, either the competition exclusion holds that one species becomes extinct, or the two species reach a coexistence equilibrium, and the outcome of the competition is determined by the strength of the inter-specific competition and the dispersal rates. Our main techniques in the proofs follow the theory of monotone dynamical systems and a graph-theoretic approach based on the tree-cycle identity.
