The main purpose of this study is to identify the level of patriotism application in secondary school history teachers in Sabah. This study is a survey study using a questionnaire for the purpose of collecting data. The sample of the study consists of history teachers involving a total of 367 respondents throughout Sabah. Study variables were tested using descriptive and inferential statistics involving t-tests. The findings of the study indicate that the patriotism application is at a high level. The results of the t-test showed that there was a significant difference in the mean score of the patriotism application between the respondents of history specialization and non-history specialization. These findings provide useful input, especially to the Ministry of Malaysia Education, the State Education Department, and the school administration to plan professional development programs.

It should be unnecessary to say before a group of mathematics teachers that engineering educators are concerned with the kind of education our secondary schools are giving. Dean Steinberg has ably presented2 the importance of sound training in mathematics as a foundation for engineering education. I endorse his statement, but wish to add that the engineering schools are also vitally interested in the entire educational program of secondary school students, and in the quality of work they do, not only in their mathematics, but in all their subjects. Most of the progressive engineering colleges have for years attempted to improve and strengthen their relations with the secondary schools from which they draw students, chiefly by sincere efforts to furnish intelligent, authoritative, and objective guidance to secondary school students.

After almost two centuries of functioning almost exclusively through the medium of Russian, the governments of the now-independent Kyrgyzstan are trying to implement the knowledge of English among the population as an auxiliary tool of interaction with the rest of the world. Nevertheless, and despite the huge amount of money invested in English education, there is a lack of studies about the attitudes of the Kyrgyzstani students toward this language and the use that they intend to do of it. This paper analyses the attitudes toward the learning and use of English by Kyrgyzstani secondary-school students from four educational models in two regions of the country. A questionnaire given to 182 students from different local and foreign ethnic and language backgrounds was used to collect data. The results of the research show different approaches depending on the location of the schools and the educational program followed. For most students English may be a good asset but very few consider it a language that can be used in contexts other than the classroom.

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Nigeria is intended to help the federal and state education authorities in their determination to revitalize, reform, and expand the provision of skills, vocations, science, and technology geared towards the socio-economic development of the nation. TVET also includes a wide range of skills development opportunities incorporated into national and local contexts. There are increasing insinuations suggesting that TVET in the Nigerian set-up is challenged by unfavorable perceptions of the concept by learners. The primary aim of the study is to examine secondary school students attitudes based on TPC. One hundred and sixteen senior secondary school students drawn from public and private secondary schools in Kogi State participated in the study. The participants completed self-report measures on attitude towards TVE and perceived teachers pedagogical competence. The findings revealed that 65.5% of the respondents expressed a negative attitude towards science process skills. Also, it was found that teachers pedagogical competence influenced attitude towards TVET. The findings and practical implications of the study are discussed.

Aims and methodResearch shows that 16- to 19-year-olds express the greatest level of negative attitudes towards people with mental illness. Our aim was to assess the effectiveness of work experience placements in influencing secondary-school students' attitudes towards mental illness and career choices. The Adolescent Attitude Towards Mental Illness questionnaire measured and assessed the adolescents' attitude changes. Pre- and post-evaluation questionnaires assessed changes in their career choices.ResultsThere was a statistically significant change in the adolescents' attitudes, especially regarding categorical thinking and perceptions that people with mental illness are violent and out of control. There was also a positive shift in their career choices towards options in the field of mental health.Clinical implicationsWork experience placements can have a positive impact on secondary-school students' attitudes towards mental illness and may improve the level of student recruitment into the field of psychiatry.
