The title coordination polymer, [Cd3Co2(CN)12(C2H8N2)4]n, has an infinite two-dimensional network structure. The asymmetric unit is composed of two crystallographically independent CdIIatoms, one of which is located on a twofold rotation axis. There are two independent ethylenediamine (en) ligands, one of which bis-chelates to the Cd atom that sits in a general position, while the other bridges this Cd atom to that sitting on the twofold axis. The Cd atom located on the twofold rotation axis is linked to four equivalent CoIIIatomsviacyanide bridges, while the Cd atom that sits in a general position is connected to three equivalent CoIIIatomsviacyanide bridges. In this way, a series of trinuclear, tetranuclear and pentanuclear macrocycles are linked to form a two-dimensional network structure lying parallel to thebcplane. In the crystal structure, these two-dimensional networks are linkedviaN—H...N hydrogen bonds involving an en NH2H atom and a cyanide N atom, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional structure. This coordination polymer is only the second example involving a cyanometallate where the en ligand is present in both chelating and bridging coordination modes.

Two inclusion compounds of dithiobiurea and tetrapropylammonium and tetrabutylammonium are characterized and reported, namely tetrapropylammonium carbamothioyl(carbamothioylamino)azanide, C12H28N+·C2H5N4S2−, (1), and tetrabutylammonium carbamothioyl(carbamothioylamino)azanide, C16H36N+·C2H5N4S2−, (2). The results show that in (1), the dithiobiurea anion forms a dimerviaN—H...N hydrogen bonds and the dimers are connected into wide hydrogen-bonded ribbons. The guest tetrapropylammonium cation changes its character to become the host molecule, generating pseudo-channels containing the aforementioned ribbons by C—H...S contacts, yielding the three-dimensional network structure. In comparison, in (2), the dithiobiurea anions are linkedviaN—H...S interactions, producing one-dimensional chains which pack to generate two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded layers. These layers accommodate the guest tetrabutylammonium cations, resulting in a sandwich-like layer structure with host–guest C—H...S contacts.

Six ammonium carboxylate salts, namely cyclopentylammonium cinnamate, C5H12N+·C9H7O2−, (I), cyclohexylammonium cinnamate, C6H14N+·C9H7O2−, (II), cycloheptylammonium cinnamate form I, C7H16N+·C9H7O2−, (IIIa), and form II, (IIIb), cyclooctylammonium cinnamate, C8H18N+·C9H7O2−, (IV), and cyclododecylammonium cinnamate, C12H26N+·C9H7O2−, (V), are reported. Salts (II)–(V) all have a 1:1 ratio of cation to anion and feature three N+—H...O−hydrogen bonds forming one-dimensional hydrogen-bonded columns consisting of repeatingR43(10) rings, while salt (I) has a two-dimensional network made up of alternatingR44(12) andR68(20) rings. Salt (III) consists of two polymorphic forms, viz.form I havingZ′ = 1 and form II withZ′ = 2. The latter polymorph has disorder of the cycloheptane rings in the two cations, as well as whole-molecule disorder of one of the cinnamate anions. A similar, but ordered,Z′ = 2 structure is seen in salt (IV).

In the complex cation of the title salt, [Co(C12H8N2)3](C10H5O8)2·H2O, the CoII cation is situated on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated in a distorted octahedral manner by six N atoms from three chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands. In the crystal, the non-coordinating 2,4,5-tricarboxybenzoate anions interact with each other via O—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating a two-dimensional network parallel to (100). Adjacent sheets are connected by waterO—H...Ocarboxylate hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional network structure that surrounds the complex cations.

In the title compound, [Cu2(C7H4O5S)2(C12H8N2)2(H2O)2]·3H2O, each copper(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline molecule, two carboxylate O atoms from two 2-sulfonatobenzoato dianions and one aqua O atom in a distorted square pyramidal geometry. The 2-sulfonatobenzoato dianions function as μ2-bridging ligands in the formation of a dinuclear complex. Intermolecular hydrogen-bond interactions link the dinuclear units into a two-dimensional network structure.

A new 1,3,4-oxadiazole-containing bispyridyl ligand, namely 5-(pyridin-4-yl)-3-[2-(pyridin-4-yl)ethyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2(3H)-thione (L), has been used to create the novel complexes tetranitratobis{μ-5-(pyridin-4-yl)-3-[2-(pyridin-4-yl)ethyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2(3H)-thione}zinc(II), [Zn2(NO3)4(C14H12N4OS)2], (I), andcatena-poly[[[dinitratocopper(II)]-bis{μ-5-(pyridin-4-yl)-3-[2-(pyridin-4-yl)ethyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2(3H)-thione}] nitrate acetonitrile sesquisolvate dichloromethane sesquisolvate], {[Cu(NO3)(C14H12N4OS)2]NO3·1.5CH3CN·1.5CH2Cl2}n, (II). Compound (I) presents a distorted rectangular centrosymmetric Zn2L2ring (dimensions 9.56 × 7.06 Å), where each ZnIIcentre lies in a {ZnN2O4} coordination environment. These binuclear zinc metallocycles are linked into a two-dimensional network through nonclassical C—H...O hydrogen bonds. The resulting sheets lie parallel to theacplane. Compound (II), which crystallizes as a nonmerohedral twin, is a coordination polymer with double chains of CuIIcentres linked by bridgingLligands, propagating parallel to the crystallographicaaxis. The CuIIcentres adopt a distorted square-pyramidal CuN4O coordination environment with apical O atoms. The chains in (II) are interlinkedviatwo kinds of π–π stacking interactions along [0\overline 11]. In addition, the structure of (II) contains channels parallel to the crystallographicadirection. The guest components in these channels consist of dichloromethane and acetonitrile solvent molecules and uncoordinated nitrate anions.
