AbstractIn this short communication, we introduce two applications of nanomechanics, based on standard molecular dynamics simulations, to problems of critical importance to future technology. One of these problems is concerned with “nanoenergy,” in particular, hydrogen storage in fullerenes. The other problem is concerned with “nanomedicine,” in particular, the effect of sodium chloride on collagen molecules. An extension of these preliminary results and their use in developing continuum nanomechanics models is underway, and it will be the theme of two separate future publications.
