This study tests the degree to which previous sport involvement (PSI) and attitudes toward PSI (APSI) influence present attitudes toward running (ARUN) and commitment to and skill in running. A questionnaire measuring these variables was mailed to a random sample of 210 participants drawn from a local 5-mile race; it was returned by 103 males (60%) and 38 females (90%). Commitment was operationalized as respondents’ training mileage per week, skill as their best race time divided by their best race distance, and PSI as their involvement in sport at the high school and/or college level. Attitudes toward PSI and running were assessed by a modification of the Kenyon ATPA Inventory. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed a victory component (PVICT, RVICT) and a fitness component (PFIT, RFIT) for each scale. The results showed that RVICT scores explained a significant amount of the variation in commitment to and skill in running. Noticeably absent was the effect of PSI upon skill and commitment, either directly or indirectly through attitudes toward running.

This study is part of a project investigating school heads’ practices and factors influencing them. The dearth of empirical research on school heads’ practices, their perceived stressfulness and how enjoyable practices performed are necessitated this study. School heads’ practices were examined using a convenient sample of senior high school heads and assistants in Ghana with appropriate statistical tools (exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and multinomial logistics regression). The findings revealed 22 activities that defined school heads’ practices. Regarding those activities, ‘organising information sessions with parents’ and ‘cooperating with organisations’ were least performed while activities related to counselling and administration, which were perceived as stressful, were performed equally. In total, practices perceived as stressful and enjoyable were performed more, while practices enjoyed significantly influenced the performance of practices in general. In practice, the knowledge of stressful and enjoyable practices guarantees the initiation of a suitable coping strategy than being ignorant, thereby improving school leadership and the health of school heads.

This study aimed to develop and validate an instrument of career decision of senior high level. Two hundred thirty-three learners from one of the Islamic senior high schools in Yogyakarta were involved in this study. The design of this study was research and development (R&D), which consisted of eight steps: a) identifying the purpose of measuring, b) domain restriction of measuring, c) operationalization of aspects, d) item writing, e) language trial, and field test, f) item selection, g) construct validation, and h) final validation. The researcher implicated students and expert judgments to validate the instrument. A small group and large group instrument try-out were done in this study. To analyze the data, the researcher combined the statistical calculation and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The result of this study showed that the career decision instrument undergoes some revision before it was fixed. The expert's judgments & result of the small group try-out showed that the instruments must be improved. The researcher revised some items in the instrument and did the large group try-out. The result of confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the career decision instrument was fixed. It was ready to use by the counseling teachers to help the senior high school students make career decisions for their future.

Several studies have shown that entrepreneurial orientation in high school students can predict career choices as businessmen in the future. However, not many studies have developed a measurement instrument for entrepreneurial orientation in high school students in one solid variable construct. This study aims to conduct confirmatory factor analysis and norming on a scale that was previously explored. A survey of 646 high school students was conducted in six large cities throughout the provinces on Java Island, Indonesia. The results of this research confirmed that the construct of entrepreneurial orientation in high school students has three dimensions: innovativeness, risky proactiveness and competitiveness. The study also produced a norm index for junior and senior high school students. This scale will be useful in mapping the level of student’s entrepreneurial orientation and assist high school management bodies to prepare programs that are more suitable to developing entrepreneurial behavior in students.
