The title compound I, 2,2′-[(2-nitrophenyl)methylene]bis(3-hydroxy-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-enone), C23H27NO6, features a 1,3-ketone–enol conformation which is stabilized by two intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The most prominent intermolecular interactions in compound I are C—H...O hydrogen bonds, which link molecules into a two-dimensional network parallel to the (001) plane and a chain perpendicular to (1\overline{1}1). Both title compounds II, ethyl 4-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-2,7,7-trimethyl-5-oxo-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline-3-carboxylate, C23H29NO6, and III, ethyl 4-(anthracen-9-yl)-2,7,7-trimethyl-5-oxo-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline-3-carboxylate, C29H29NO3, share the same structural features, such as a shallow boat conformation of the dihydropyridine group and an orthogonal aryl group attached to the dihydropyridine. Intermolecular N—H...O bonding is present in the crystal packing of both compound II and III.

In the title compound, [Co(C8Cl4O4)(C3H4N2)2(H2O)2]n, the CoIIion displays a distorted octahedral coordination geometry with two O atoms from two monodentate tetrachloroterephthalate dianions, two N atoms from two imidazole molecules and two O atoms from two water molecules. The CoIIions are connectedviathe tetrachloroterephthalate dianions into a chain running along the crystallographic [110] direction. Adjacent chains are linked into a two-dimensional network arranged parallel to (010) by classical N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds.

In the title compound, [Co(C8H5O4)(C9H6N7)]n, the divalent CoIIatom is six-coordinated to three N atoms from two symmetrical 5-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H,2′H-3,3′-bi[1,2,4-triazole] (H2pyttz) ligands and three O atoms from three symmetrical 3-carboxybenzoate (Hbdic) ligands, leading to a distorted {CoN3O3} octahedral coordination environment. Two CoIIcations are linked by four bridging carboxylate groups to generate a dinuclear [Co2(CO2)4] unit. The dinuclear units are further connected into a chain along [010]viathe Hbdic ligands. The other infinite chain, along [100], is formed through the H2pyttz ligands. Finally, the two kinds of chains are cross-linked, by sharing the CoIIcations, into a two-dimensional network. In the crystal, adjacent layers are further linked by O—H...N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional framework.

In the title compound, [LaCl3(C12H8N2)2(C3H7NO)]·2C3H7NO, the LaIII ion is eight-coordinated by four N donors from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands, one O atom from one N,N-dimethylformamide molecule and three chloride anions. In the crystal structure, the LaIII mononuclear units are linked to form a chain along the a axis by weak C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds. The chains are crosslinked to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane by π–π stacking interactions between the phen rings [centroid–centroid seperations range from 3.589 (2) to 3.708 (2) Å].

Language theoretic public key cryptosystems for strings and pictures are discussed. Two methods of constructing public key cryptosystems for the safe transmission or storage of chain code pictures are presented; the first one encrypts a chain code picture as a string and the second one as a two-dimensional array.

In the title compound, C10H6N4O5S, the mean plane of the non-H atoms of the central amide fragment C—N—C(=O)—C [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0294 Å] forms dihedral angles of 12.48 (7) and 46.66 (9)° with the planes of the thiazole and benzene rings, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [001]. In addition, weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds link these chains, forming a two-dimensional network, containingR44(28) ring motifs parallel to (100).
