Porous ZnGaNO microrods were synthesized by a single crystal internal decomposition route, and exhibited high performance in photoelectrochemical water splitting due to the high specific area and short charge transfer distance of the microstructure.

We report n-Si/α-Fe2O3 core/shell nanowire array photoanodes exhibiting excellent performance for photoelectrochemical water splitting. The material size-related charge transfer processes and band position changes in the composite photoelectrodes were investigated.
