Expert system validation—that is, testing systems to ascertain whether they achieve acceptable performance levels—has with few exceptions been ad hoc, informal, and of dubious value. Very few efforts have been made in this regard in the transportation area. A discussion of the major issues involved in validating expert systems is provided, as is a review of the work that has been done in this area. The review includes a definition of validation within the context of the overall evaluation process, descriptions and critiques of several approaches to validation, and descriptions of guidelines that have been developed for this purpose.

SYNOPSISThe origins of present misconceptions of pathological intoxication are reviewed, and the main symptoms examined in relation to possible aetiological factors. The diagnosis is infrequently made in clinical practice, and has little use in court in cases of alcohol-related violence. It is suggested that ‘pathological drunkenness’ (lCD 291.4) should be removed from the International Classification of Diseases.

Ayurveda, the ancient science of life originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing”. Panchakarma is considered to be the most eminent branch of Ayurveda, as the name suggests it is a ‘five-step’ process for a complete detoxifying and rejuvenating therapy. Every individual is unique in Prakruti, Dosha, Agni, Koshtha and such other factors. So before administrating any Panchakarma procedure it is must to assess the Agni and Koshtha of the person. Agni and Koshtha role can be explained in 3 aspects- i.e., Poorva Karma (Deepana - Pachana, Snehana and Swedana), Pradhana Karma (Vamana karma, Virechana Karma, Basti Karma and Nasya) and Paschat Karma (Samsarjana krama). An attempt is made in the article to highlight the importance of Agni and Koshtha in all the aspects with respect to Panchakarma.

The debate on literature in Nicaragua, at various moments in the country’s history, is elaborated on the figure, aesthetics, and work of Rubén Darío. Not only the birth and death of the poet on vernacular soil are central aspects in the appropriation made, but above all, the international cultural capital built through his wandering life and cosmopolitanism in his work. The appropriation of his aesthetics, as well as the distancing and debates about his contribution, persist in various moments of Nicaraguan literary history. We will explore some interventions by Nicaraguan intellectuals who are members of the Avant-garde Group, above all, their subsequent critical review and the contribution that Ventana magazine made in the 1960s. Finally, it will be observed that during the revolutionary decade, 1979-1989, the figure of Darío concentrates, at least, two simultaneous appropriations, the “anti-imperialist” and the “half-blood”. Both perspectives coincide in the conviction that, in Nicaragua, there would be no literature without the magisterium of Darío.

Aushadha Sevana Kaala or the time of administration of medicine is a very unique concept pertaining to our science of Ayurveda. Even then our understanding about it is more textual than practical. Also its practice is also limited only to a few Ayurveda Vaidyas. An attempt is being made in this article to review the possible references of Aushadha Sevana Kaala, and also try and understand the way they enhance therapeutic action of a medicine.

In their critical review of survey key driver analyses (SKDA), Cucina, Walmsley, Gast, Martin, and Curtin (2017) contend that methodological issues limit the usefulness of SKDA and recommend that survey providers stop conducting SKDA until these issues can be overcome. I contend that many of these methodological issues are either overstated or able to be addressed through the proper application of the technique by a competent professional. In this commentary, I make recommendations for how SKDA should be applied so that methodological issues are addressed and the value of SKDA is maximized. Many of these recommendations were made in Lundby and Johnson (2006), who were cited by Cucina et al. but did not have much impact on their focal article.

The article presents a critical review of the advances made in incentive-based and knowledge-based theories of the firm. In particular, the authors explore some developments in the incentive-based approach regarding relational contracts and contracts as "reference points", while the evolution of knowledge-based theories has led us to focus on the interesting implications of the concept of dynamic capabilities. Finally, we investigate some recent attempts to bridge these two main research streams, which have long been considered to clash with rather than complement each other.

A critical review of three classic papers by B Hopkinson, RM Davies, and H Kolsky, and the state-of-the-art in Hopkinson bar experimental techniques is presented. The validity and applicability of the assumption made in the 1D Hopkinson bar theory are discussed. Fundamentals of the Hopkinson bar experimental procedure are outlined including bar calibration, specimen design, pulse shaping, and data analysis following the essential dispersion correction methodology. Additional data tables necessary for dispersion correction are provided to cover a wide range of Poisson’s ratio. In addition to the elastic-plastic metals, methodologies for soft and hard materials are also discussed. This paper provides the necessary information for conducting a Hopkinson bar experiment and analyzing the experimental data. This review article cites 61 references.
