AbstractNanoparticles (NP) have specific catalytic properties, which are influenced by parameters like their size, shape, or composition. Bimetallic NPs, composed of two metal elements can show an improved catalytic activity compared to the monometallic NPs. We, herein, report on the selective aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol catalyzed by unsupported Pd/Au and Pd NPs at atmospheric pressure. NPs of varying compositions were synthesized and characterized by UV/Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The NPs were tested in the model reaction regarding their catalytic activity, stability, and recyclability in batch and continuous procedure. Additionally, in situ extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements were performed in order to get insight in the process during NP catalysis.

Here, we report a metal–organic framework featuring a binuclear copper unit, showing extraordinarily high catalytic activity (102.8 mmol g−1 h−1) for photodriven H2 generation, which is attributed to the synergistic effect between the two Cu ions.

In this paper, hexaaluminate oxides LaMAl12O19-σwere prepared by using M=Cu ,Ce and Zn as active components to substitute Al in the hexaaluminate lattice by co-precipitation method. The structure and properties of LaMAl11O19-σcatalyst was characterized with XRD and BET. The results showed LaCuAl11O19-σexhibited significant high catalytic activity for the decomposition reaction of N2O. Under the simulated in situ condition, LaCuAl11O19-σalso indicated significant catalytic activity and stability, with N2O conversion of 90% at 635°C.

Au NPs were generated via in situ reduction on copolymer brush P(OEGMA-co-MQ) functionalized GO. MQ units in the brushes as capping agents could stabilize the Au NPs. The Au NPs–GO hybrid exhibited high catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-NP.

Ni2B nanoparticle distributed on ordered SBA-15 mesoporous silica was prepared in situ and its catalytic activity for NaBH4 hydrolysis was investigated in the presented paper. The problem of Ni2B aggregation is resolved and the catalytic activity of Ni2B is also improved due to the effect of SBA-15. The catalytic activity increases with Ni2B/SBA-15 weight ratio increased from 1:4 to 2:1 and the catalyst with Ni2B/SBA-15 weight ratio of 2:1 has high catalytic activity close to that of Ni2B. The sintered experiment shows that the catalytic activity comes from amorphous Ni2B, not crystalline Ni2B. High sintering temperature leads to the conversion from amorphous Ni2B to crystalline Ni2B and damages the nanostructure of amorphous Ni2B framework.
