Electrospun layered perovskite Ba5Ta4O15 nanofibers are varied in their diameter for the first time by the identification of electrospinning setup parameters controlling the resulting nanofiber diameter. The influence of fiber diameter on photocatalytic water splitting activity is revealed.

2D porous MnIn2Se4 nanosheets have been synthesized for the first time via a simple hydrothermal method. The intrinsic property of the hitherto unexplored MnIn2Se4 for photocatalytic water splitting was clearly studied, and the H2 evolution rate reached 35 μmol g−1 h−1 in pure water.

A highly robust hybrid material Calix-3-TiO2 based on calixarene dye and TiO2 is prepared by a facile sol–gel method for the first time. When Pt nanoparticles are introduced onto the hybrid, the catalysts display efficient and persistent photocatalytic water splitting activities.
