The title compound, C21H30Cl2N4O, contains a sterically hindered phenol group. The dihedral angle between the two rings is 72.3 (1)°. The propyl chain is disordered over two orientations.

The purpose of this investigation is to study antioxidant activity of sterically hindered phenol — thiophane in rats with toxical hepatitis. Increase of diene and triene conjugates as well as fluorescent products in hepar tissue was revealed. Course intragastric administration of thiophane decreased significantly the content of lipid peroxidation products (diene and triene conjugates, fluorescent products) and held over the α-tocopherol content in hepar tissue.
