It is of great significance to develop sustainable processes of catalytic reaction. We report an efficient and selective procedure for the synthesis of acetylated bioactive compounds in water. The use of 1-acetylimidazole combined with Er(OTf)3 as Lewis acid catalyst gives high regioselectivity and good to excellent yields for the acetylation of primary hydroxyl groups as well as amino groups. The protection is achieved in short reaction times under microwave irradiation and is successful even in the case of base-sensitive substrates.

AbstractA novel polydimethylsiloxane containing two primary hydroxyl groups at one single chain end was synthesized by five-step reactions which included esterification, hydroxyl protection, anionic ring-opening polymerization, hydrosilylation and deprotection. The prepared compounds in each step were characterized. The results showed that at each step synthesis was successfully carried out and objective products could be achieved.

Derivatives of D-galactose and D-glucose substituted for the primary hydroxyl group, which contain an aglycone azolylmethylphenyl fragments (for imidazole, 1,2,4-triazole, benzimidazole and benzotriazole) has been synthesized. Toprotect the secondary hydroxyl groups of monosaccharides acetyl and isopropylidene groups were used.

The synthesis of Fe-MIL-101 material with the presence of H2BDC linker and iron (III) chloride achieving remarkable success is a result of solvothermal method. Catalytic activity works on the Friedel-Crafts benzoylation reaction of aromatic compounds and benzoyl chloride. In addition, Fe-MIL-101 is a heterogeneous catalyst which succeeds in not only shortening duration in a significant amount, but also increasing conversion with the assistance of the microwave irradiation compared with the conventional heating. Fe-MIL-101 would be a very potential alternative in place of unfavourable and dated iron (III) chloride homogeneous catalyst, due to its thermal stability, moreover, it can be recovered and reused after aqueous work-up.
