Short range radar (SRR) uses the K-band frequency range in its application. The radar requires high-resolution, so the applied frequency is 1 GHz wide. The filter is one of the devices used to ensure only a predetermined frequency is received by the radar system. This device must have a wide operating bandwidth to meet the specification of the radar. In this paper, a band pass filter (BPF) is proposed. It is designed and fabricated on RO4003C substrate using the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique, results in a wide bandwidth at the K-band frequency that centered at 24 GHz. Besides the bandwidth analysis, the analysis of the insertion loss, the return loss, and the dimension are also reported. The simulated results of the bandpass filter are: VSWR of 1.0308, a return loss of -36.9344 dB, and an insertion loss of -0.6695 dB. The measurement results show that the design obtains a VSWR of 2.067, a return loss of -8.136 dB, and an insertion loss of -4.316  dB. While, it is obtained that the bandwidth is reduced by about 50% compared with the simulation. The result differences between simulation and measurement are mainly due to the imperfect fabrication process.

In this paper, a novel approach for designing the parallel coupled microstrip bandpass filter operating at C-band frequency is numerically analyzed iteratively and simulated. The physical dimensions are being finalized using standard odd- even impedance method. Various electrical parameters such as insertion loss, reflection loss are being analyzed and practical results are being compared and found same as the predicted results. The proposed design is fabricated on FR4 dielectric substrate and the experimental result shows the scientifically acceptable for C-band Applications.

In order to provide an efficient, low cost, and small size radiating structure that passes a certain frequency band with negligible amount of interference, the combination of filters and antennas is proposed to form a single element called filtenna. This paper presents a filtenna element with compact size that can radiates in the 5G mid-band frequency range (3.6-3.8 GHz) and perfectly rejects all the frequencies outside this range. The filtenna is composed of a printed circuit antenna that is terminated with a crescent shaped stub that is coupled electromagnetically with a miniaturized sharp band-pass filter. The simulation results show a filtenna reflection coefficient with a reduced value within the intended 5G band and with high values along the other unwanted frequencies. Moreover, the structure has an omnidirectional pattern with reasonable gain value within the band of interest, and this makes the antenna very suitable for portable 5G devices.

The 2003 Tokachi-oki earthquake (MJ 8.0) occurred off the southeastern coast of Tokachi, Japan, and generated a large tsunami which arrived at Tokachi Harbor at 04:56 with a wave height of 4.3 m. Japan Marine Science and Technology Center (JAMSTEC) recovered records of water pressure and sea-bed acceleration at the bottom of the tsunami source region. These records are first introduced with some findings from Fourier analysis and band-pass filter analysis. Water pressure disturbance lasted for over 30 minutes and the duration was longer than those of accelerations. Predominant periods of the pressure looked like those excited by Rayleigh waves. Next, numerical simulation was conducted using the dynamic tsunami simulation technique able to represent generation and propagation of Rayleigh wave and tsunami, with a satisfactory result showing validity and usefulness of this technique. Keywords: Earthquake, Rayleigh wave, tsunami, near-field
