The structure (5) is proposed for the title compound on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence and on the X-ray crystal structure of the derivative 4-{(Y-methyl-1'',3''-dioxo-7''-phenyl- 1'',3'',3'',4'',7'',7a''-hexahydroisoindol-4''-yl)methyl}tetracyclo [5,4,0,02,5,O3,9] undec-10-ene-8-carboxylic acid (9c).

Extraction of the sponge Aplysilla sulphurea (Order, Dendroceratida) yielded two crystalline substances, aplysulphurin, C22H28O5, and aplysulphuride, C22H32O5 Chemical and spectroscopic evidence suggested that aplysulphurin, the title compound, had the structure (2). This was confirmed by a single-crystal X-ray determination.

The title compound, C11H11FO2, is a building block in the synthesis of the active pharmaceutical ingredient DL-nebivolol. The synthesis starting from the enantiomerically pure (R)-6-fluoro-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromene-2-carboxylic acid resulted in a mixture of two stereoisomers, namely (R)-6-fluoro-2-[(S)-oxiran-2-yl]chroman and (R)-6-fluoro-2-[(R)-oxiran-2-yl]chroman. The mixture was separated by column chromatography but only one stereoisomer crystallized. The X-ray structure analysis revealed that the solid consisted of theR,Sisomer. A similar procedure was repeated for (S)-6-fluoro-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromene-2-carboxylic acid and, in this case, theS,Risomer was produced as a crystalline solid. Thus, all four stereoisomers of the title epoxide were obtained and their absolute configuration was assigned. The crystal studied was refined as an inversion twin.

Abstract The structure of the title compound has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The title compound is synthesized from the elements at 600 °C. Its crystal structure, derived from powder data [3] is refined by single crystal diffractometer data. The structure is trigonal (P3̅ml, α = 684.1(1), c = 724.4(1) pm); Pd2+ cations and PS43- anions form a network with an anti-Claudetite (AS2O3) type structure. The PS4 units are distinctly distorted from ideal tetrahedral symmetry. The Pd atoms have a planar environment of 4 S atoms.

AbstractA new metal-organic framework, [Pb(hmpcaH)2]n (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized from Pb(OAc)2 · 3H2O and 2-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine-4-carboxylic acid (hmpcaH2; 2), and characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In complex 1, each hmpcaH− ligand represents a three-connected node to combine with the hexacoordinated Pb(II) ions, generating a 3D binodal (3,6)-connected ant network. The crystal structure of 2 was determined. The solid-state fluorescence properties of 1 and 2 were investigated.

A polycrystalline sample of a new polymorph of the title compound, C8H11NO2, was produced during a variable-temperature X-ray powder diffraction study. The crystal structure was solved at 1.67 Å resolution by simulated annealing from laboratory powder data collected at 250 K. Subsequent Rietveld refinement yielded an R wp of 0.070 to 1.54 Å resolution. The structure contains two molecules in the asymmetric unit, which form a C 2 2(8) chain motif via N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

AbstractHydrothermal synthesis produced the new compound SrCo2(AsO4)(AsO3OH)(OH)(H2O). The compound belongs to the tsumcorite group (natural and synthetic compounds with the general formula M(1)M(2)2(XO4)2(H2O,OH)2; M(1)1+,2+,3+ = Na, K, Rb, Ag, NH4, Ca, Pb, Bi, Tl; M(2)2+,3+ = Al, Mn3+, Fe3+, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; and X5+,6+ = P, As, V, S, Se, Mo). It represents (1) the first Sr member, (2) the until now unknown [7]-coordination for the M(1) position, (3) the first proof of (partially) protonated arsenate groups in this group of compounds, and (4) a new structure variant.The crystal structure of the title compound was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. The compound is monoclinic, space group P21/a, with a = 9.139(2), b = 12.829(3), c = 7.522(2) Å, β = 114.33(3)°, V = 803.6(3) Å3, Z = 4 [wR2 = 0.065 for 3530 unique reflections]. The hydrogen atoms were located experimentally.

In this paper, (2E,6E)-2,6-Bis(2,3,4-tri-methoxy -benzylidene)cyclohexanone (omitted as tmbcho) (1) was obtained by the reaction of acetic acid, tetrahydrofuran, cyclohexanone and 2,3,4-tri-methoxy-benzaldehyde. Three non-classic hydrogen bonds were observed in the compound. X-ray crystallography shows that the crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C-H•••π interactions and it contains plenty of conjugated double bonds. The title compound was characterized by UV-vis and fluorescent spectral studies.

The X-ray crystal structure of 3α,4α:5β,6β-diepoxyandrostan-17-one has been determined. Crystals of the title compound (C19H26O3)are monoclinic, space group P21, with a 9.208(2), b 9.620(4), c 9.312(3) �, β 99.14(2)�, V 814.5 Ǻ3 and Z 2. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined to R 0.039 for 887 observed reflexions. The 3α,4α:5β,6β configuration of the epoxide rings confirms the assignment based on proton n.m.r. studies.

The title compound, C14H11BrO, was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methylbenzophenone and bromine in carbon tetrachloride. X-ray crystal structure analysis reveals that the benzene and phenyl rings form a dihedral angle of 59.53 (6)°, and the crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular C—H...π interactions.

The room-temperature single-crystal X-ray structural characterization of the title compound (tpyH2)2[Tb(OH2)8]Cl7.~2⅓H2O is recorded. Crystals are triclinic, Pī , a 17.063(5), b 16.243(3), c 7.878(3) Ǻ, α 84.78(2), β 84.39(3), γ 87.81(2)°, Z = 2 formula units; 3167 'observed' diffractometer reflections were refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures to a residual of 0.057. Notable features of interest of the compound are the 'chelation' of chloride ions by the terpyridinium cations , and the existence of a free [Tb(OH2)8]2+ cation in the presence of an abundance of chloride ions.
