A new genus of Psychodidae, Atrichobrunettia, gen. nov., is erected to contain species showing affinities with Brunettia Annandale, but lacking hairs on the wing membrane. Two new species are described, A. alternata, sp. nov., and A. subalternata, sp. nov. Three new subgenera of the genus Telmatoscopus Eaton are created; Paratelmatoscopus, subgen. nov., containing 2 new species, Telmatoscopus (P.) variegatus, sp. nov., and T. (P.) subvariegatus, sp. nov.; Nototelmatoscopus, subgen. nov., containing the species T. (N.) festivus, sp. nov., T. (N.) crassepalpis, sp. nov., T. (N.) obscurus, sp. nov., and T. (N.) nicholsoni, sp. nov.; Eutelmatoscopus, subgen. nov., containing the species T. (E.) neglectus, sp. nov., T. (E.) norrisi, sp. nov., T. (E.) confusus, sp. nov., and T. (E.) fordi sp. nov., all of which species are described, as also is T. poncianicolus, sp. nov., a species of uncertain subgeneric affinity. Two new species are described of the hitherto monotypic genus Notiocharis Eaton, N. dimorpha, sp. nov., and N. pallida, sp. nov. A new species of the monotypic genus Trichopsychoda Tonnoir, T. montana, sp. nov., is described, as also are 2 species of Pericoma Walker, P. confusa, sp. nov., and P. pseudoalbipes, sp. nov., and 11 species of Psychoda Latreille, P. dennesi, sp. nov., P. aenigmatica, sp, nov., P. unimaculata, sp. nov., P. irrorata, sp. nov., P, truncata, sp. nov., P. subpennata, sp. nov., P. squamata, sp. nov., P. arcuata, sp. nov., P. squamipleuris, sp. nov., P. apennata, sp. nov., P. ypsylon, sp. nov. Further descriptions are given of the species Pericoma bancrofti Tonnoir and Psychoda pseudoalternata Williams. The name Psychoda infurcis Satchell is shown to be a synonym of Psychoda makati Del Rosario. Keys to the genera and species of Australian Psychodidae, including those described in Part II, are provided.

AbstractThe new lichen genus Sergipea M. Cáceres, Ertz & Aptroot is described in the Roccellaceae, based on the new species Sergipea aurata M. Cáceres, Ertz & Aptroot from NE Brazil. The species was found in a remnant of Atlantic transition forest in Sergipe. It is similar in many respects to species of the genus Enterographa, but it is characterized by bright orange stromata, due to the presence of an anthraquinone, and a thallus with a somewhat byssoid hypothallus. Phylogenetically it is close to the genera Dichosporidium and Erythrodecton. The phylogenetic position of the generic type of Dichosporidium confirms the close relationship of the genus to Erythrodecton in the basal branch of the Roccellaceae. A new species of Enterographa is also described from NE Brazil. Enterographa rotundata E. L. Lima, M. Cáceres & Aptroot has solitary, round apothecia, which is unusual in this genus with mainly elongated apothecia or punctiform apothecia arranged in lines. It was found in Caatinga forest in Pernambuco.

A phylogeny of all nine subgenera of Drosanthemum, based on chloroplast sequence-data, is presented. The results confirm some previously published facts, e.g. that D. zygophylloides is sister to Drosanthemum. We propose to treat this species as a new monotypic genus, Lemonanthemum, which differs from Drosanthemum in features of the leaves and fruit-stalks. In Drosanthemum s.s., the small subg. Quadrata, characterized by 4-locular fruits, is highly supported as sister to the remainder of Drosanthemum (where fruits are 5-locular). Further, our data support the transfer of Delosperma pubipetalum to Drosanthemum (where a nomenclatural change is also made). The pubescent petals, 5-locular fruits with narrow covering membranes and downward-pointing hair-like papillae on the branches suggest that D. pubipetalum is close to D. papillatum and belongs to subg. Quastea. Another species, D. badspoortense, which had been placed in D. subg. Quastea on account of its narrow covering membranes, is shown to belong to Delosperma and also lacks the unique structure of the fruit-stalk of Drosanthemum. In addition, a new species, D. overbergense, is described from disjunct patches of remnant renosterveld within the Overberg and near Albertinia, in the Western Cape of South Africa. Morphological characteristics suggest that this species belongs to subg. Xamera, but this was not corroborated by our molecular data. Finally, a new name—Drosanthemum calcareum—is proposed for the illegitimate D. intermedium and a lectotype (at BOL) is designated for D. pubipetalum. The lectotypification of D. badspoortense is also proposed.

The Australian Gomphidae belong in the subfamilies Ictinogomphinae and Gomphinae. The three ictinogomphine species are placed in the widespread genus Ictinogomphus Cowley: I. australis (Selys), I. dobsoni (Watson), and a new species, I. paulini. The gomphine genera are endemic, and fall into two groups, the Hemigomphus and Austrogomphus groups. The first contains Hemigomphus Selys [H. comitatus (Tillyard), H. gouldii (Selys), H. heteroclytus Selys (type species), plus four new species, H. atratus, H. cooloola, H. magela, H. theischingeri], Armagomphus Carle [type- and only species A. armiger (Tillyard)] and the new genus Odontogomphus, comprising two new species, O. donnellyi (type species) and O. longipositor. The second includes Antipodogomphus Fraser [A. acolythus (Martin), A. hodgkini Watson, A. neophytus Fraser, A. proselythus (Martin) (type species) plus two new species: A. dentosus, A. edentulus], and Austrogomphus Selys, divided into five subgenera, Austrogomphus Selys [A. angeli Tillyard, A. arbustorum Tillyard, A. australis Dale in Selys, A. collaris Hagen in Selys, A. cornutus, sp. nov., A. doddi Tillyard, A. guerini (Rambur) (type species), A. mjobergi Sjöstedt, A. ochraceus (Selys) and A. pusillus Sjöstedt], Austroepigomphus Fraser, stat. nov. [A. melaleucae Tillyard, A. praeruptus (Selys) (type species)], plus three new subgenera, Pleiogomphus [A. amphiclitus (Selys) (type species), A. bifurcatus Tillyard, A. prasinus Tillyard, plus a new species, A. divaricatus], Xerogomphus [A. gordoni Watson, A. turneri Martin (type species)], and Zephyrogomphus [type- and only species A. lateralis (Selys)]. Lectotypes are designated for Hemigomphus heteroclytus Selys and Antipodogomphus neophytus Fraser, and neotypes for Austrogomphus gouldii Selys and Austrogomphus collaris Hagen in Selys. Data are provided on the larvae of endemic genera, and on the distributions and habitats of species, all of which are keyed.

ABSTRACTA new genus and species of felid, Ginsburgsmilus napakensis, is described from Napak, Uganda. Material from Songhor, Kenya, previously identified as Afrosmilus turkanae by Schmidt-Kittler (1987) is assigned to this species. A new species of Afrosmilus, A. hispanicus, is described from Artesilla, Spain. These new felid species combine sabre-tooth canines of maochairodont type with cheek teeth similar to those of Pseudailurus. Phylogenetically they are close to Afrosmilus turkanae which shows a greater specialisation towards markedly machairodont forms. On the basis of dental features, we propose a close relationship between these two genera (which we group into the new tribe Afrosmilini) and the tribe Barbourofelini (Sansanosmilus and Barbourofelis), the transition between the two being represented in the fossil record by Prosansanosmilus peregrinus Heizmann et al. 1980.

The infraorder Thalassinidea Latreille, 1831 [sensu stricto] includes three families: Thalassinidae Latreille, 1831; Upogebiidae Borradaile, 1903; and Laomediidae De Haan, 1849 (cf. Sakai & Sawada, 2006). However, recent examination of material from Kuwait in the Pershian Gulf, showed the occurence of a new species,Kuwaitupogebia nithyanandangen. et sp. nov., and this has made it possible to establish a new family, Kuwaitupogebiidae fam. nov., based on that new genus. The genusUpogebiaLeach, 1814 is known to include nine species from the Red Sea area, yet herein two new species,Upogebiaspongicolasp. nov. from the Reef at Hurghada, Red Sea, Egypt, andUpogebia jizanensissp. nov. from off Jizan, Saudi Arabia, Red Sea, can be added, based on material lodged in the collections of the museum in Frankfurt a. M.
