The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the mathematical connections of junior high school students on the concepts of ratio and proportion. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data triangulation. The research participants were four junior high school students in Sukabumi. The instrument used in this study consisted of a description test of three questions that had been consulted with experts and based on considerations regarding indicators of mathematical connection ability. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the ability of students to recognize and use connections between mathematical ideas is 50%, the ability of students to connect and apply mathematical concepts with other disciplines is 50%, and the ability of students to connect and apply mathematical concepts to problems in everyday life with a percentage of 50%. The results showed that the mathematical connection ability of some junior high school students in Sukabumi on the concept of comparison was included in the poor category.

This research is motivated by the lack of connection capabilities junior high school students in Bandung West. This study will examine the achievement of matemati connection capabilities of students usinglearning reciprocalteaching with the usual approach. The method used is an experimental method to design pretest-posttest control group, ie design involving at least two groups and randomly sampling classes. At the beginning and end of the study both classes were given the test. The population in this sample is the entire junior high school students in Bandung West whose characteristics have a low ability mathematical connections. Of the entire junior high school in West Bandung randomly selected and elected SMP Negeri Bandung Barat representing the characteristics of the population. The sample was selected randomly, where class G into the experimental class VIII, and VIII F be the class of the control. Collecting data in this study using a test description that has been tested first, and then score the mathematical connection capabilities of students were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics using two different test average. Based on the results, good data analysis and hypothesis testing, with α = 0.05 mathematical connection capability turns the achievement of students usinglearning model reciprocal teaching is better than the students who used the usual approach

The ability of mathematical connections is an essential skill that must be mastered by high school students, as it will help master understanding of meaningful concepts and help solve mathematical problems through the interrelationship between mathematical concepts and between mathematical concepts and concepts in other disciplines even with applications in real-life students. This study aims to examine the ability of mathematical connections of students in one junior high school in Bandung on Social Arithmetic materials. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with the subject of research is 36 students of class VIII in one of the State Junior High School in Bandung. Instrument given in the form of description test as much as 3 problem each representing indicator ability and analyzed so that get data fulfillment indicator ability of mathematic connection. Based on the data analysis, the students 'mathematical connection ability is still low, so it is necessary to design the learning activities that can facilitate students' mathematical connection ability.

Part of the beauty of mathematics is that seemingly isolated branches of the subject can often be used together to produce solutions to problems. High school students need to engage in activities that help them see how the various branches of mathematics work together in problem-solving situations. NCTM (2000) underscores the importance of such activities, stating, “When students can see the connections across different mathematical content areas, they develop a view of mathematics as an integrated whole” (NCTM 2000, p. 354).

The problem raised in this research is that students' ability in making mathematical connections is still relatively low. This is because some of the theories in the learning of teachers still enjoy this way of learning, meaning that the students are only recipient of information without inspiration to active. Therefore, the authors are interested to conduct research by applying an NHT cooperative model setting to improve mathematical connection ability of junior high school students. This study aims to determine whether the knowledge of mathematical connections of junior high school students using learning methodology is better than junior high school students using ordinary learning. This research was conducted in SMP Krida Utama Padalarang Class VII, with research method the research used is quasi-experimental method. The sample of this research is taken two classes namely class VII A as experiment class and class VII B as control class. The research instrument is a set of mathematical connection test questions consisting of 5 test questions, and then tested by using a statistical test of differential. Based on the results of research and data processing, the authors conclude that the ability of mathematical connections of junior high school students whose learning using open-ended approach with learning model setting NHT type cooperative learning is better than the mathematical connection ability of junior high school students whose learning using ordinary learning.

Mathematical connection is the ability to make connections to understanding mathematical concepts that are associated with contexts outside of mathematics. Various studies revealed that the students' mathematical connection is still low; therefore, this study aims to describe the difficulties of junior high school students in mathematical connection ability. This research is a descriptive qualitative study. The study sample was 52 students from a junior high school in East Flores Regency. The methods used in this study were tests, observations, and interviews. The study results showed that the mathematical connection ability based on the three indicators of connection ability tends to be below. Students did not understand concepts that had been studying; easy to forget concepts, principles and procedures; not used to use concepts, principles and procedures; assume mathematics has nothing to do with other sciences; not accustomed to applying mathematical concepts in everyday life; lack of understanding about the story

This research aims to describe the mathematical connection in problem solving. Metode of qualitative research. The subject of this study were two ninth graders of junior high school in with a purposive technique. The research instrument was a mathematical connection test problem. The data analysis technique uses three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students complate aspects of mathematical connections, namely: Aspects of mathematical connections in mathematical problems such as: Students understand the relationship between existing mathematical topics by writing down the equation model as ideas of the problems. Students are able to find the relationship between existing procedures and other procedures in representation with the equivalent concept shown by writing the two-variable linear system material equation. Students apply the relationship between mathematics, and between mathematical material with mathematical material by finding the value of equations. Students are able to use mathematical connections with mathematics or other fields of science using mathematics with economics to determine the number of purchases with capital, and aspects of mathematical connections with everyday life, namely; Students use procedures and concepts from one another according to the question data. The ability of students to use mathematics in everyday life in the context of buying and selling using capital, amount, profit. So, as a whole the mathematical connection ability of junior high school students complate the indicators and into the high connection category. Keywords: mathematical connection, two-variable linear system material, connection aspects.
