During a survey on diversity of freshwater fungi along a north-south latitudinal gradient in Asia, three fresh specimens of Minimelanolocus were collected from submerged wood in streams in northwestern Yunnan Province, China. Based on their distinct morphological features and phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU and SSU sequence data, Minimelanolocus nujiangensis and M. clavatus are described as new species and M. submersus was recollected from Yunnan, China. Illustrations and descriptions with notes of the three species are provided. This study increases the known diversity of Minimelanolocus and enriches freshwater fungal resources.

Two new hyphomycetes, Paradictyoarthrinium aquatica and P. hydei were collected and isolated from submerged wood and decaying wood in China and Thailand respectively. Morphologically, they line well with Paradictyoarthrinium in having superficial, gregarious, black, powdery fruiting bodies, macronematous conidiophores with unevenly dictyoseptate, muriform, subglobose to ellipsoidal dark brown conidia, but they differ from the other species in having short conidiophores. Phylogenetic analysis of combined LSU, ITS and RPB2 sequence data showed that six taxa of Paradictyoarthriniaceae, including the two new species, form a monotypic clade among the phylogenetically close families in Pleosporales with good support. Six isolates of Paradictyoarthrinium formed four distinct clades and represent four different species. Detailed descriptions and illustrations of the new species are provided, as well as the comparisons with related taxa.

Helicascus species from submerged wood in aquatic habitats in northern Thailand were studied based on morphology and analysis of DNA sequence data. Descriptions and illustrations of H. elaterascus and a new species H. chiangraiensis are provided.  H. chiangraiensis is characterized by unilocular ascostromata, fissitunicate asci with a long, narrow and coiled endoascus, ascospores with 2–4 large refractive guttules. The phylogenetic analysis based on combined ITS, LSU and SSU sequence data placed the species in Morosphaeriaceae (Pleosporales).

Ongoing investigation of diversity and taxonomy of lignicolous freshwater fungi in Thailand have revealed plenty of new hyphomycetous species. In this study, Tainosphaeria aquatica sp. nov. and T. thailandense sp. nov., occurred on submerged wood in Thailand, are described and illustrated based on the evidences of morphological characters and phylogenetic analysis of combined LSU, ITS and TEF1-α dataset. Tainosphaeria aquatica is characterized by hyaline, 0–3-septate, cylindrical to long fusiform conidia with hair-like, hyaline appendages at both ends. Tainosphaeria thailandense is distinct in having laurel-green, 0–1-septate, reniform to ellipsoidal conidia with polar appendages. A synopsis of morphological characteristics of Tainosphaeria species is provided.

Abstract—A synopsis of Dicliptera (Acanthaceae) for Brazil is presented. Six species are recognized: Dicliptera ciliaris, D. sexangularis, and D. squarrosa, widely distributed in South America; D. purpurascens, which ranges from the North Region of Brazil (in the state of Acre) to eastern Bolivia; D. gracilirama, a new species from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil; and D. granchaquenha, a new species recorded in dry and semideciduous forests in Bolivia and western Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Furthermore, we propose new synonyms and designate lectotypes for eleven names. An identification key to the six accepted Dicliptera species in Brazil is provided.

Abstract—Two new diploid species, Aira minoricensis and Aira hercynica, are described and illustrated, along with chromosome counts, risk assessment, distribution and habitat, phenology, and comparisons with morphologically similar species. A comparative table and a key for the species of Aira for the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands are provided to assist in the identification of these overlooked species, and their relationships to other taxa are discussed.
