The molecules of the title compound, [Cu(C11H13N2O2)2], lie across centres of inversion in space group P21/c and are linked by intermolecular N-H···O and C-H···O hydrogen bonds. The central Cu atom has a slightly distorted square-planar coordination comprised of four N atoms. Cu-N bond distances are 1.975(2) and 2.020(2) Å . The interplanar angle between the phenyl and succinimidato ring is 87.34(10)°

The present work has been designed for the characterization and antibacterial studies of mixed ligand complexes of Pd(II) ions with phthalic acid and heterocyclic amines. The general formula of the complexes is (MLL/) [where, M = Pd(II); L = Oxalic acid, C2O4, L/ = Quinoline, C9H7N(1); iso-Quinoline, C9H7N(2)]. The complexes were prepared in the solid form and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity & magnetic measurements and infrared & electronic spectroscopic studies. The infrared spectra of the complexes confirmed the coordination of metal ion with ligands. Their antibacterial activity has been evaluated by the disc diffusion method against seven pathogenic bacteria (three gram positive and four gram negative). The complexes were shown to exhibit mild to moderate antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria. Treatment of the chelated palladium(II) complex, trans-[Pd(K2-Sac-CH2O)2].2H2O with one mole equivalent of the diammines (L-L), L-L = 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy),. ethylene diamine (en), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), or N,N-dimethyl ethylene diammine (dmen) in EtOH solvent afforded mixed ligand complexes of the type [Pd(K1-Sac-CH2O)2(L-L)] in 82-93% yield. While treatment of trans-[Pd(K2-Sac-CH2O)2].2H2O with two mole equivalents of the monoamines (L), L=pyridine (py), 3-methylpyridine (3-mpy) or 3-aminopyridine (3-apy) in EtOH solvent gave trans-[Pd(K1-Sac-CH2O)2(L)2] complexes in 86-89% yield The prepared complexes were characterized by elemental CHN analysis, .conductivity measurements,. infrared and 1H nmr spectra.
