The joint 1st Workshop on Evaluations and Measurements in Self-Aware Computing Systems (EMSAC 2019) and Workshop on Self-Aware Computing (SeAC) was held as part of the FAS* conference alliance in conjunction with the 16th IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing (ICAC) and the 13th IEEE International Conference on Self-Adaptive and Self-Organizing Systems (SASO) in Umeå, Sweden on 20 June 2019. The goal of this one-day workshop was to bring together researchers and practitioners from academic environments and from the industry to share their solutions, ideas, visions, and doubts in self-aware computing systems in general and in the evaluation and measurements of such systems in particular. The workshop aimed to enable discussions, partnerships, and collaborations among the participants. This special issue follows the theme of the workshop. It contains extended versions of workshop presentations as well as additional contributions.

I am happy and honored to publish a special issue on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment, and Management (HNICEM) in the JACIII. The demand for the application of HNICEM is rapidly growing. We have received many papers focused in the fields of Manufacturing, Academe, and Business during the first international conference on HNICEM. This special issue includes 11 papers carefully and evenly selected from these fields. I strongly believed that the topics in this issue encompass technologies that will play a significant role in the development of HNICEM. I am very grateful to Prof. Toshio Fukuda and Prof. Kaoru Hirota, the Chief editors of JACIII for inviting me as Guest editor in this Journal. I would like to express my warmest thanks and gratitude to the distinguished authors that have contributed to this special issue, for their outstanding contributions and cooperation. I am hoping that the JACIII will continually provide papers regarding progress of new technologies particularly in the fields of HNICEM.

This special issue on the International Conference on Advanced Mechatronics (ICAM'04) held at Asahikawa, Hokkaido, October 3 to 5, 2004, sponsored by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, covers three major areas focused on by the Conference: mechatronics, robotics, and information technology (IT). Among the 110-plus excellent papers accepted for the conference, guest editors chose roughly 40%, recommending that authors submit papers for this journal. This special issue features 13 papers that passed final tough reviews, making the acceptance ratio 60%. We believe you will find this issue both interesting and informative in providing the latest information on mechatronics. We thank all who submitted articles to this special issue and the anonymous reviewers who took so much time from their busy schedules to review manuscripts and respond with constructive suggestions and comments. The high-quality reviews and timely completion of revised manuscripts have certainly helped make this special issue successful. We are sure the news in this issue will be of great help to researchers in the mechatronics community.

The twenty-first century is witnessing huge transformation with the help of management and technology innovation. The journal Ingenería Solidaria, subtitled as Journal of Engineering and Education provided us with the opportunity to summon quality research manuscripts on the domain of engineering and management and to compile a special issue.  We published the call for papers at icitkm-2017, the First International Conference on Information Technology And Knowledge Management, organized by Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, University of Delhi, India, held on December 22-23rd 2017.We received more than 35 manuscripts through the open call for papers as well as extended versions of manuscripts presented at icitkm-2017. After reviewing and screening, eight interesting articles were selected for this special, volume no 14, number 25 of the Journal. We are sure the issue will provide up-to-date discussions and support for readers and researchers in their domains.
