Today’s challenges for scientific publications require operating at a time when trust in science depends upon effective vetting of data, identifying questionable practices, and scrutinizing research. The Editor-in-Chief has an invaluable opportunity to influence the direction and reputation of our field but also has the responsibility to confront contemporary trends that threaten the publication of quality research. The editor is responsible for maintaining strict scientific standards for the journal through the exercise of good judgment and steadfast commitment to upholding the highest ethical principles. Opportunities exist to create and implement new initiatives for improving the peer review process and elevating the journal’s stature. The journal must address the challenges as well as effectively communicate with the public, who seek a reliable source of information.

The “best of both worlds” is not often the case when it comes to implementing new health models, particularly in community settings. It is often a struggle between choosing or balancing between two components: depth of research or financial profit. This has become even more apparent with the recent shift to move away from a traditionally reactive model of medicine toward a predictive/preventative one. This has given rise to many new concepts and approaches with a variety of often overlapping aims. The purpose of this perspective is to highlight the pros and cons of the numerous ventures already implementing new concepts, to varying degrees, in community settings of quite differing scales—some successful and some falling short. Scientific wellness is a complex, multifaceted concept that requires integrated experimental/analytical designs that demand both high-quality research/healthcare and significant funding. We currently see the more likely long-term success of those ventures in which any profit is largely reinvested into research efforts and health/healthspan is the primary focus.

Purpose Transformative service research (TSR) has received considerable attention from researchers and marketers in recent years and becomes a research priority in health care. In response, this paper adapts the TSR entities and wellbeing framework to systematically review healthcare quality research on Muslim consumers. The purpose of this paper is to identify research gaps and provide directions for future research, aligning healthcare studies with the TSR framework. Design/methodology/approach The authors of this paper reviewed empirical papers in healthcare quality research on Muslim patients between the years 2000 and 2020. The recorded journal articles were synthesized using insights from the TSR framework. Several literature gaps were identified and future research directions were provided using the TCCM framework, in which T stands for theory, C for context, C for characteristics and M for methodology. Findings This paper finds studies that encompass several domains of the TSR framework including cultural and religious dimensions, service interaction and customer engagement dimensions and customer service wellbeing. Findings also reveal subject matters related to the TSR framework, which receive less attention in the healthcare literature. A number of potential avenues for theoretical extension in health care are also discussed. Social implications The implications of this paper are highly relevant to Muslim healthcare consumers, the healthcare system and society in general. The findings suggest inspiring changes in the healthcare ecosystem that yields a greater quality of life (health and wellbeing) for individuals and their respective communities. Originality/value This paper advances the current state of healthcare research by identifying and organizing components of TSR entities and wellbeing framework, using Muslim patients as the context. It enhances some pioneering approaches within the domain of TSR and quality dynamics and provides a holistic perspective as guidance and systematic thinking to further advancement in the field of services marketing and Islamic marketing.

Coffee is one of Indonesia's foreign exchange earners and plays an important role in the development of the plantation industry. In previous studies, coffee bean quality research has been carried out using the ANN method using color features. RGB and GLCM. However, the results carried out in the study only had an accuracy value of up to 47%. Therefore, this study aims to improve the performance of coffee bean quality classification using four machine learning methods and 7 color features. From the results obtained, it shows that MultilayerPerceptron is better starting with RGB color with an accuracy of 38% split ratio 90:10. HSV has an accuracy of 57% split ratio 90:10. CMYK has an accuracy of 63% split ratio 90:10. LAB has a 58% curation split ratio of 90:10. The YUV type has an accuracy of 58% split ratio 90:10. Furthermore, the HSI color type has an accuracy of 42% split ratio 90:10. The HCL color type has an accuracy of 65% split ratio 90:10 and LCH has an accuracy of 78% split ratio 90:10. In testing, it can be concluded that the MultilayerPerceptron method is better than other methods for the coffee bean classification process.

The goal of this research is to shed additional light on the internationalisation of scholarly publishing in Croatia through research based on the bibliometric analysis of the journal Društvena Istraživanja (DI). The first part of this research is dedicated to bibliometric analysis of DI since its conception in 1992, while the second part discusses the internationalisation of scientific journals in Croatia, relying on the critical analysis of relevant literature and the bibliometric characteristics of DI. The results of this research call into question the relevance of the existing scientific publishing policy to contribute to quality research papers and their internationalisation. The research provides implications for both editorial and publishing policies, as well as science policies in general.

In this Perspectives article, the author grapples with the personal challenges of attempting to do ethical and high-quality research in the post world of the maturing 21st century. Among the challenges addressed are matters of purported relevance of research, equity research conducted by nonmembers of equity-seeking groups, the impact of rankings and metrics, peer review, and the relationship between good intentions and symbolic violence.

Abstract. Open data and geospatial data collected by volunteers are nowadays easy to obtain and available with worldwide coverage through projects like OpenStreetMap. However, the use of these datasets leads to new challenges in depiction especially in the field of large scale topographic cartography. In addition to quality research, new processing and depiction methods for integrating these data are emerging. In the course of this work, specific problems of maps based on OpenStreetMap and Open Data elevation models are pointed out and possible solutions are introduced. In addition, a method for the preprocessing of contour lines is presented and the process flow is described in more detail. The goal of this work is to give insight into a toolbox of specially adapted and (semi-)automated methods. In this way, the quality standard of the depiction of topographic maps based on Open Data is to be increased, but also limitations are being shown.
